In addition, the Quality Engineer shall support both Legacy and New product designs related to quality issues. The Quality engineer will work with the RMA department to identify trends that will help identify quality issues and work with engineering to correct the issues. The Quality engineer will work with engineering and help guide and make sure we are following our ISO requirements and standards.\n\nEssential Functions\n\nContribute to the creation and implementation of best practice quality vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performance. Work with Engineering to develop standards that will be used across the different business units, so hardware is developed to the same standards and quality.\n\nWork directly with the various Contract manufactures to address problems and develop standards to be utilized.\n\nWork with Engineering (Design and Manufacturing Engineers) team to define process parameters and criteria to ensure supplier process capability is effective to meet product and process requirements.\n\nInterfaces with customers, suppliers, and program personnel on quality related issues.\n\nSupport Purchasing and Contract Manufactures to coordinate with engineering on supply chain issues and part replacements.\n\nHelp manage the root cause analysis and corrective actions process of both supplier quality issues and Quality issues from Contract Manufactures.\n\nAssist with on-site supplier visits for root cause analysis and verification of corrective actions of Contract Manufacture quality issues.\n\nAdministers and oversee all ISO 9001:2015 quality system requirements related to all sites as required.\n\nWork with engineering to validate the Electronic department processes and resources are being followed during development.\n\nPerforms assessments and audits on processes and procedures to ensure compliance to specifications, engineering drawings, procedures as required by Quality / ISO commitments.\n\nReview product specifications necessary to establish quality and reliability objectives for the Electronics department.\n\nBe part of all first article inspections of product being received from Contract Manufactures.\n\nMine and investigate issue data gathered by tech & customer service to identify trends or incipient field issues and call for action to prevent minor issues from growing into larger problems.\n\nWork across the 4 NA business units.\n\nAll other duties as assigned\n\nEducation and/or Experience\n\nBachelor's degree in either quality, engineering, supply chain management or manufacturing processes.\n\nMust be able to travel as needed to support regional activities.\n\n5+ years' experience with at least 2 years in a supplier quality role.\n\nCommunication Skills\n\nAbility to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to company management as well as customer staff for reporting and/or training purposes.\n\nMathematical Skills\n\nAbility to apply advanced mathematical concepts. Ability to apply mathematical operations in such areas as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, factor analysis, and abstract calculus theory as pertaining to design and validation methodologies.\n\nReasoning Ability\n\nAbility to apply principles of logical and scientific thinking to a wide range of abstract and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulae and equations, graphs, etc.).\n\nKnowledge, Skills and Required Abilities\n\nMicrosoft Office Suite\n\nSix Sigma/Lean skills.\n\nExperience of dealing with customers and suppliers.\n\nAbility to work independently and collaboratively with others toward mutual objectives.\n\nAbility to communicate and enlist support for the vision of the organization.\n\nStrong written and oral communication skills.\n\nStrong ability to use business metrics to drive improved business and operational results.\n\nStrong Project Management Skills\n\nSignificant experience in manufacturing auditing.\n\nOther Qualifications\n\nGood analytical and trouble shooting skills.\n\nGood reasoning methods and a methodical approach to testing and problem solving.\n\nAccuracy and attention to detail.\n\nAbility to deliver results in a fast paced multi-tasking environment.\n\nApplication experience with testing electronic products/systems for Internal Combustion Engines, Heavy Duty Custom Trucks, and industrial pumps is a plus.\n\nExperience with automated systems testing is a plus.\n\nAbility to work well with variety of people and cultures in a small local engineering group interfacing with remote sites and the larger global environment.\n\nAbility to work with a limited amount of supervision.\n\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills\n\nPhysical Demands\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
