As a First Year Apprentice Lineman, you will be responsible for entry-level line construction while advancing through the four-year GVEC Apprenticeship Program to certified Lineman.\n\nYour Pay\nThe minimum starting pay for this role is $25.00/hr plus bonuses that are tied to a multitude of organizational benchmarks set forth annually. Pay will be determined by skills, qualifications and experience.\n\nHow You’ll Help\nComplete Defensive Driving for Utility Vehicles\nUnderstand and demonstrate proficiency in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)\nBecome familiar with GVEC construction specifications and demonstrate proficiency\nInstall safety measures to protect the public on jobsites\nBe proficient at loading and transporting poles and equipment safely\nComplete pole top and bucket rescue drills\nBecome familiar with equipment/tools installed on jobsites\nBecome familiar with and use computer programs necessary for job completion\nBasic office and computer knowledge\nAssist in Di-electric testing of insulated buckets and digger trucks\nComplete training classes or certifications as scheduled\nComplete written and skills test for advancement in apprenticeship\n\nExperience/Skills You’ll Need\nMust either produce training certificates demonstrating successful completion of Lineman Training Program and/or successfully complete the GVEC Apprenticeship Program during employment\nMust be a self-motivated individual with a good attitude and safe work ethics\nMust have a valid Texas driver’s license and be able to obtain a Class A CDL within six months of start date\nDemonstrates ability to effectively evaluate and manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment\nTeam player with the resolve to provide and take constructive criticism that helps evolve the team\nIdeal candidate must be able to work under adverse conditions, handle temperature extremes and be willing to work overtime as well as in urgent situations as needed\nRequires that residence be within 25 minutes of the reporting office within 12 months of start date\n\nOur Purpose and Culture\nGVEC proudly provides Electric, Internet, HVAC, Solar and Battery Storage, and Electrician services in and around South-Central Texas.
