We believe a company's best people shouldn't be bottlenecked by manual execution. By delegating the daily grind to reliable digital teammates, operators are freed to focus on strategy, relationships, and the complex work that actually moves the business forward. We are building the era of the 100x operator.\n\nOur team is small and fast-paced, which means every person here is load-bearing. If you want to fundamentally change how businesses operate, come join us.\n\nAbout the role\n\nConvey is hiring a Design Engineer to own problems from statement to outcome: defining, designing, building, testing, and shipping the experiences through which non-technical operators train, manage, and trust AI teammates. You will work across design and implementation, prototyping directly in code and iterating closely with engineering and customers.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nOwn core agent interaction patterns: Design the primary in-app interface where operators train and manage their digital teammates.\n\nShape channel behavior: Agents do not just live in a web app. You will figure out how they interact, communicate, and escalate across the tools people already use, including Slack, email, and live video calls.\n\nInfluence the broader brand: Your design vision will extend beyond the core product to shape our marketing site and overall visual identity.\n\nUnderstand the agent architecture: You will collaborate with engineering to reason about what tools the agent needs and how its technical constraints shape the user experience.\n\nPrototype and iterate rapidly: You love hacking together concepts, building quick prototypes, and iterating closely with engineering.\n\nBuild and ship, not just design: Take core workflows from concept through production-quality implementation, partnering with engineering to iterate rapidly based on customer feedback.\n\nDefine teammate personalization: Explore how teammates can feel personal enough to build affinity while remaining professional enough for enterprise customers.\n\nTurn customer proximity into product direction: Bring structure and strategic depth to Convey’s existing customer feedback loops across daily customer channels and hands-on product use.\n\nExceptional Candidates Have:\n\nDeep design ownership: 2+ years of product design experience, with at least 2 years acting as the primary or sole designer on a complex product.\n\nAgentic product experience: Prior experience designing for AI agents or conversational interfaces. You excel at distilling high complexity + capability into something incredibly simple for the user.\n\nTechnical fluency: You have a conceptual understanding of how LLMs, agent harnesses, and tool-calling work - enough to collaborate with engineers on system constraints and agent capabilities.\n\nZero-to-one systems thinking: You are comfortable creating entirely new interaction patterns from scratch rather than just maintaining/leveraging an existing UI component library.\n\nBuilder's mentality: You are comfortable using AI-native tooling (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Figma) to quickly put together and iterate on concepts.\n\nDesign-engineering range: You can move fluidly between product strategy, visual and interaction design, and front-end implementation.\n\nOutcome ownership: You have taken ambiguous problems from an initial brief to a shipped customer outcome with minimal direction.\n\nEnterprise AI judgment: You can balance clarity and delight with permissions, approval workflows, auditability, and other trust requirements.\n\nStrong product instincts: You advocate for both user needs and business goals.\n\nAdditional Information\n\nCulture is high-ownership, high-intensity, and customer-focused.\n\nRemote employees travel to SF every 3 weeks for a few days (travel covered).","company":"Convey","rawCompany":"convey","city":"Millbrae","state":"CA","isRemote":false,"isActive":false,"createdAt":"2026-09-09T09:56:56.547Z","occupations":[{"code":"15-1255.00","title":"Web and Digital Interface Designers","slug":"web-and-digital-interface-designers"},{"code":"17-2199.00","title":"Engineers, All Other","slug":"engineers-all-other"},{"code":"27-1029.00","title":"Designers, All Other","slug":"designers-all-other"}],"industries":[{"code":"541512","title":"Computer Systems Design Services","slug":"computer-systems-design-services"},{"code":"513210","title":"Software Publishers","slug":"software-publishers"},{"code":"541511","title":"Custom Computer Programming Services","slug":"custom-computer-programming-services"}],"jobPosting":{"@context":"https://schema.org","@type":"JobPosting","title":"Design Engineer","description":"About Convey\n\nConvey builds AI teammates that run critical operations, whether it's ingesting orders, trafficking complex ad campaigns, or preparing customer reports.
