As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team that works closely with the customer and other Serco teams in an integrated design environment to deliver high quality designs to schedule. Bring your expertise and collaborative skills to make an impact towards our military and the safety of our sailors.\n\nThis position is contingent upon your ability to obtain a DoD Secret level clearance post-employment.\n\nIn this role, you will:\n\nLead the design and specification of marine electrical systems from concept design, through detailed design and construction, including Power generation and distribution (LV/HV), Switchboards, transformers, UPS, and emergency power systems, Propulsion and thruster electrical systems, Automation, control, and monitoring systems.\n\nProduce and review electrical design documentation, including Single-line diagrams, schematics, load analyses, and cable schedules, Equipment specifications and technical requisitions.\n\nProvide project cost and schedule estimates.\n\nEnsure compliance with relevant marine and offshore standards and class rules (e.g., IEC, IEEE, DNV, ABS, Lloyd’s Register).\n\nSupport project execution through FAT, SAT, commissioning, and sea trials.\n\nProvide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.\n\nCollaborate with mechanical, naval architecture, and software teams.\n\nInterface with clients, shipyards, vendors, and classification societies.\n\nIdentify and mitigate technical risks throughout the project lifecycle.\n\nTravel occasionally for shipchecks, and shipyard/customer Design Reviews.\n\nEnsure primary consideration is given to Health, Safety, and Environmental issues in all activities undertaken within areas of responsibility.\n\nComply with all corporate policies and procedures, including quality assurance and security procedures, in the performance of duties.\n\nTo be successful in this role, you must have:\n\nAbility to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.\n\nU.S Citizenship Required\n\nBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Marine Engineering, or related field.\n\n10+ years of experience in the design of marine electrical systems with a professional engineering firm, shipyard, or marine electrical contractor developing products related to the electrical drawings, electrical distribution system analyses, and supervisory control systems.\n\nBroad knowledge of the application of electrical engineering design principles.\n\nStrong working Knowledge of MS Office 2010 (Excel, Word, Outlook), MATLAB, Simulink, Simulink Coder (Real-Time Workshop), and PLC programing.\n\nAbility to interpret engineering drawings and specifications, industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards such as 46 CFR; ABS; SOLAS; IEEE Std. 45; IMO; IEC; NEC; and other applicable rules and regulations.\n\nExperience writing requirements and drafting Statement of Work (SOW) and Technical Instruction.\n\nAbility to review and develop project work, quantities, costs, accuracy of specifications, completeness, and constructability.\n\nSound oral and written communications skills.\n\nAbility to work efficiently with limited or no supervision.\n\nThe ability to travel 10% of the time.\n\nAdditional desired experience and skills:\n\nExperience working with applicable regulatory, commercial, and military standards and classification society rules.\n\nFamiliarization with the NAVSEA Organization and its field activities.\n\nExperience working with US Navy and Commercial ship and ship system design principles and practices.\n\nPay Transparency\nOur Total Rewards package includes competitive pay, performance-based incentives, and benefits that promote well‑being and work‑life balance—so you can thrive both professionally and personally.
