Overview:
Founded in 1995, Ben Parker Co. is a metal fabrication and contract job shop specializing in heavy structural steel, platework, and sheet metal work. We are in an exciting phase of growth, with a new fabrication facility under development that will support expanded capabilities and long-term scale.
We are seeking a motivated Senior Accountant who will take ownership of core accounting processes, ensure the accuracy of our financial reporting, and support leadership with timely financial insights. This role begins with responsibility over daily and monthly accounting workflows but is intentionally designed to grow into broader oversight of financial reporting, accounting processes, and ultimately a Controller-level role as our business expands.
The Senior Accountant will work closely with leadership and receive mentorship and support from our outsourced CFO team. For someone who wants accelerated development and leadership exposure, this is a compelling next step.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Accounting & Month-End Close
Own month-end close procedures, including all journal entries and account reconciliations
Maintain clean and organized financial records, ensuring accuracy across GL accounts
Monitor working capital (AP, AR, cash) and provide weekly summaries to leadership
Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
Oversee the full AP and AR cycles: invoice creation, bill entry, collections, vendor payments
Upload and categorize receipts and documentation; ensure alignment with job costing and GL coding
Manage vendor relationships including regular statement reviews and resolution of discrepancies
Process and record payments, including checks, ACH, and credit cards
Banking & Reconciliations
Perform timely reconciliations of all bank accounts, credit card accounts, and payroll accounts
Upload Positive Pay files and manage auto-draft activity
Track cash activity daily and maintain an accurate picture of working capital
Reporting & Compliance
Own preparation and filing (or coordination) of monthly sales and use tax reports
Assist with weekly and monthly reporting, including job-level performance, Estimate vs. Actual tracking, and labor cost summaries
Support budgeting efforts and help operational teams understand actual performance vs. targets
Ideal Candidate:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field. CPA preferred, not required.
2–3+ years of public accounting experience or 3–5+ years of full-cycle industry accounting experience
Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting platform
High proficiency in Excel
Organized, accountable, and process-oriented
Strong communication skills to interact confidently with vendors, project managers, and ownership
