Assistant Executive Director

JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION TITLE: Assistant Executive Director POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for performing the business-related functions of the Community; assisting in hiring, scheduling, training and supervising staff; and assisting the Administrator with other duties as needed. This role does entail the candidate to be on-call. REPORTS TO: Administrator REPONSIBILITIES: Ensures facility records are maintained in an accurate manner and in accordance with policies and procedures and regulatory requirements, including tenant, personnel and administrative records. Oversees all supply purchasing to ensure that expenses are maintained within the budgetary guidelines. Ensure phone is answered, calls are screened, and messages are reported to Administrator. Coordinates resident transportation to and from physician appointments. Provides the Administrator with routine reports and other requested information as needed. Recruits, screens, interviews, and hires staff, in consultation with the Administrator as needed. Coordinates the orientation and training of staff, including regular staff in-services, in consultation with the Administrator as needed. Assists the Administrator in providing oversight to staff, including taking disciplinary action as needed. Assists the Administrator with marketing and public relations tasks; assessment and service planning activities; tenant move-in and move-outs; and/or the coordination of tenant services as needed. Reports any suspected tenant abuse to the Ombudsman, adult protective services, the State certification agency and the tenant’s responsible party. Provides administrative and on-call coverage for the Administrator as requested. Performs all other tasks as requested. QUALIFICATIONS: Desire to work with the elderly in an environment that upholds their privacy, dignity, choice, independence, and individuality. Good oral and written communication skills and the ability work well with others. Ability to maintain financial and other records with an attention to detail, providing needed information as requested. Strong computer skills, proficient in MS Word and Excel, with the ability to learn customized programs quickly. Ability to provide oversight and supervision in an effective manner. Ability to make good judgments. Professional appearance and demeanor. All general staffing requirements: Free of communicable disease Able to physically/mentally perform tasks, as verified by a health screening that includes TB clearance Criminal record clearance Current First-Aid certification Ability to read, write and understand English General understanding of the needs of the elderly Willingness to learn Must be CBRF certified Must be vaccinated EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Must be at least 21 years of age. High school education required. Prefer at least two years college education. Must have enjoy working with the elderly. Supervisory/management experience preferred. Must have experience working with computers (at least MS Word and Excel).
