Working under the guidance of senior engineering staff, the Junior Systems Engineer assists with requirements analysis, system configuration, troubleshooting, technical documentation, testing, and implementation activities. The position supports the evaluation of system performance and interoperability, identification and resolution of technical issues, and compliance with applicable government security, technical, and operational requirements.\n\nRequirements:\n\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\n\nAssist senior engineers with on-site deployment and integration of enterprise IT systems.\nConfigure and baseline Windows Server environments.\nSupport Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy configuration.\nAssist with virtualization platforms such as Nutanix AHV and VMware.\nConfigure and validate networking equipment.\nSupport firewall deployments and baseline configurations.\nAssist with secure communications, collaboration platforms, and enterprise applications.\nAssist with system validation, functional testing, and troubleshooting during deployments.\nPrepare deployment documentation and configuration records.\nTravel domestically and internationally as required to support field deployments.\nEnter actual time worked, once complete, at the end of the day, or no later than 10:00 a.m. the following workday, and submit timesheets at the end of each pay period.\nMonitor RavenTek email on a regular basis.\nComplete required compliance training as assigned.\nOther duties as assigned.\n\nKnowledge and Critical Skills\n\nAbility to work independently while learning from senior technical staff.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nFoundational knowledge of systems engineering principles, including requirements analysis, system design, integration, testing, implementation, and lifecycle support.\nBasic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, networking, software applications, and IT infrastructure.\nFamiliarity with Windows and/or Linux environments, system configuration, administration, and troubleshooting.\nAbility to perform technical troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and problem resolution with guidance from senior engineers.\nFamiliarity with cybersecurity principles, access controls, vulnerability management, system hardening, and security best practices.\nBasic knowledge of cloud computing and virtualization technologies, such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, VMware, or similar platforms.\nAbility to support system integration, testing, verification, and validation activities.\nAbility to develop and maintain technical documentation, including system diagrams, configuration documentation, test procedures, installation guides, and operating procedures.\nFamiliarity with requirements management, configuration management, change control, and version control concepts.\nBasic understanding of scripting or automation using technologies such as PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar tools.\nStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.\nEffective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.\n\nEducation & Work Experience\n\nBachelor's degree in Cybersecurity or information technology related field.\n\nCertifications, Licenses\n\nNone\n\nSpecial Requirements\n\nAbility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret clearance.\n\nWork Environment\n\nEmployee will be working indoors in an office environment with other people. Potential moderate temperature fluctuations. Typical indoor and computer related noise level, and typical office, paper, and equipment related dust. Exposure to video display terminals occurs on a regular basis.\n\nPhysical Demands\n\nTo successfully perform the essential functions of the job, the employee needs to be able to sit at a workstation for extended periods; use hand(s) to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; see to read printed materials and computer screens; mobility to work in a typical office setting. Ability to work on desktop or laptop computer for extended periods of time reading, reviewing/analyzing information, and may be required to provide recommendations, summaries and/or reports in written format.
