You will be responsible for defining the technical requirements, interfaces, and integration strategies that ensure our large-scale energy storage systems operate reliably and safely. This role requires a holistic mindset, strong collaboration across multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, controls, and manufacturing), and a drive to solve tough technical challenges in service of our clean energy mission.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nDefine and manage system-level requirements, functional specifications, and interface control documents for core battery system architecture.\n\nCollaborate with electrical, mechanical, and firmware engineering teams to ensure subsystem designs are seamlessly integrated and meet performance targets.\n\nLead system-level validation and integration testing, developing test plans that verify safety, reliability, and functionality under diverse operating conditions.\n\nPerform trade-off analyses to optimize system performance, cost, and manufacturability, identifying potential risks early in the development lifecycle.\n\nConduct root cause analysis for complex system-level failures, working cross-functionally to implement effective engineering solutions.\n\nDecompose requirements and functions from system-level down to component-level, ensuring traceability.\n\nQualifications\n\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, or equivalent) with 3+ years of professional experience.\n\nStrong understanding of systems engineering principles, including requirements management, interface definition, and lifecycle development.\n\nExperience in multidisciplinary integration, preferably in power electronics, battery systems, or large-scale electro-mechanical hardware.\n\nProficiency with electrical battery systems.\n\nProficiency with technical modeling and documentation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, SysML, or similar) to manage system architecture and performance data.\n\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to bridge communication gaps between specialized engineering domains and non-technical stakeholders.\n\nSalary Range\n\n$115,000-130,000\n\nThe actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training and experience\n\nAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment and will not be discriminated against on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, age, genetic information, or pregnancy.\n\nPlease beware of job seeker scams and see this important notice on our careers page for more information about our recruiting process.\n\nCompliance Notice\nAlten USA is a federal contractor subject to the requirements of the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA) and Executive Order 11246.
