Paraprofessional - Cognitively Impaired
Summary:
We are seeking a full-time Paraprofessional to work in our Cognitively Impaired program at Meadowview. The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals with cognitive impairments and will be responsible for assisting the classroom teacher in providing instruction and support to students.
Responsibilities:
Assist the classroom teacher in providing instruction and support to students with cognitive impairments
Work one-on-one or in small groups with students to reinforce learning and provide additional support
Help students with daily living skills, such as toileting and feeding, as needed
Monitor student behavior and report any concerns to the classroom teacher
Assist with classroom management, including setting up materials and maintaining a safe and orderly environment
Collaborate with the classroom teacher and other staff members to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students
Attend meetings and training sessions as required by the school district
Requirements:
Required
Attain and maintain Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) – Nonviolent Crisis Intervention
Certification
(NOTE: Initial and/or Refresher Training provided by District)
Required
Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
One (1) year or more experience in a school setting providing direct support to students.
Desired
Possession of an Associate’s Degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related field.
Three (3) years or more experience working with individuals with special needs, such as:
learning disabilities, physical disabilities, emotional disabilities and behavioral disorders.
