You’ll combine technical leadership, people development, and client engagement to deliver meaningful projects that improve safety, mobility, and community outcomes across Utah.We’re looking for a leader who thrives at the intersection of strategy and execution - someone who enjoys developing teams just as much as delivering high‑quality traffic engineering solutions. You’ll play a visible role in expanding our presence with UDOT, local agencies, and private clients while helping define how our traffic group grows in the region.What You’ll Do:Build & Lead the PracticeEstablish the vision and strategy for a successful, growing traffic engineering group in Salt Lake CityLead the delivery of traffic engineering and ITS services for public and private clientsSet and manage group goals, KPIs, and budgets while maintaining a strong culture of quality and accountabilityDevelop People & TeamsRecruit, hire, and retain exceptional traffic engineering professionals at all experience levelsCoach, mentor, and support staff growth through hands‑on leadership and career developmentFoster a collaborative, high‑performing team environment where engineers can do their best workStrengthen Client Relationships & Win WorkBuild and maintain strong relationships with UDOT, local agencies, developers, and industry partnersParticipate in business development efforts including client discovery, proposals, interviews, and pursuitsCollaborate with other disciplines and consulting partners to expand opportunities and deliver integrated solutionsProvide Technical & Project LeadershipLead and manage traffic engineering projects from concept through delivery, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget performanceOversee traffic modeling and analysis efforts, including forecasting and microsimulation (VISSIM/CORSIM)Review and approve contracts, scopes, budgets, schedules, technical deliverables, and quality management plansServe as a trusted technical advisor to clients, staff, and leadershipPrepare and/or oversee traffic analysis and design including:Signing and pavement marking analysis and designSignal warrants, analysis, design, and timingRoadway lighting analysis and designTraffic operations studies and safety studiesTraffic Control and Maintenance of Traffic designITS systems analysis and designWhat You’ll Bring:A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and an active Utah PE license15+ years of traffic engineering experience, including leading projects and developing teamsDeep knowledge of traffic engineering principles, practices, and state and national standardsA strong track record of mentoring, coaching, and developing engineering staffThe ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to clients, stakeholders, and the publicA consistent commitment to delivering high‑quality work on scheduleHands‑on experience with traffic analysis and modeling tools such as VISSIM, Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, and/or StreetLightWorking knowledge of Bentley‑based design platforms including MicroStation, GEOPAK (V8i), OpenRoads Designer, and/or InRoadsComfort operating in a collaborative, team‑oriented environment with strong interpersonal skillsProficiency with Microsoft Office and the organizational skills needed to lead multiple initiativesExperience with alternative delivery methods (design‑build, PDB, CM/GC, etc.) is a plusWhy Alliant:At Alliant, you’re not just taking a job - you’re becoming an employee‑owner.
