Serve as a resource, communicator, trainer, and solutions provider for problems identified and engage all employees while serving as a conduit for information related to safety and environmental projects and employee concerns. Comply with all mandated reporting and work with employees in a proactive manner to reduce injuries.\nEssential Duties/Responsibilities Plan, implement and manage safety / environmental policies and procedures in compliance with local, state and federal OSHA rules and regulations.\nPlan, implement and manage programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, for example, but not limited to fire protection, lockout/tagout, fall protection and handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment and other materials.\nLead all safety related activities for the facility, including safety related initiatives and plant safety committee.\nInspect organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determine corrective or preventive measures where indicated and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented.\nCompile and submit accident and / or environmental reports required by Nidec Corporate and regulatory agencies.\nWork with plant Human Resources on the administration of workers’ compensation programs, and Nidec Corporate and others to reduce employee lost time.\nMaintain environmental, health and safety files and records in accordance with the corporate record retention guidelines.\nEnsure timely submittal, acquisition and maintenance of all environmental permits and reports to maintain compliance with state and federal requirements.\nLead investigations of all work-related incidents/accidents, recommending corrective action to eliminate future similar incidents.\nAct as a resource for managers and employees regarding safety and environmental issues.\nReport required OSHA information as well as the reporting that is required by company.\nComplete government‑mandated reports related to safety and environmental issues.\nAdministrative duties including filing, phone calls, tracking data.\nWrite, review or update safety policies and procedures.\nExperience/Skills 1-3 years applicable experience, preferably in Manufacturing environment.\nDemonstrated experience generating regulatory reporting and experience interpreting and complying with OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1910).\nPrevious experience with a safety team and training employees on proper safety and environmental work practices.\nExperience with incident investigation and corrective actions.\nWorker Compensation Certification a plus.\nOSHA (10/30), CPR, First Aid certification a plus.\nEducation Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental, Industrial Technology, or related field is preferred, or equivalent experience.\nAdditional Job Details Professional – P1 Works to achieve operational, functional, and/or business targets within job area with indirect impact on departmental or job family results. Entry‑level professional; follows standard processes and works under close supervision. Work is defined by others within smaller, less complex projects/assignments and generally more limited in scope. Communicates with contacts typically within the team on matters that involve obtaining or providing information requiring some explanation or interpretation to reach agreement. May be responsible for contributing to recommended enhancements in systems and processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness within job area. Problems are routine, but may require interpretation or deviation from standard procedures.
