The teacher establishes effective relationships with students, parents, and staff while delivering engaging, standards-based science instruction aligned with district curriculum and Colorado Academic Standards. The Secondary Science Teacher guides students in developing scientific literacy, critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills through inquiry-based and hands-on learning experiences. Instruction is designed to meet the diverse needs and abilities of students while promoting curiosity, collaboration, and achievement of state and district standards in science education. Key Responsibilities Instruction & Curriculum DeliveryGuide the learning process toward achievement of state and district curriculum standards in Secondary ScienceEstablish clear instructional objectives for lessons, units, and activitiesDevelop and implement lesson plans that address the individual needs, interests, and abilities of studentsUtilize a variety of instructional strategies and materials to support student learning Classroom Instruction & Student AssessmentMeet and instruct classes at scheduled times and locationsMaintain accurate attendance records and student documentationDifferentiate instruction to support diverse learning needsEvaluate student academic and social progress and prepare progress reports as required Classroom Management & Student SafetyDevelop and maintain effective classroom procedures and behavior expectationsMaintain a safe and orderly learning environmentTake reasonable precautions to protect students, materials, and equipment Assessment & Record KeepingAdminister district and state assessments in accordance with district testing programs and Colorado Department of Education requirementsMaintain accurate student records and documentation in compliance with district policies and state regulations Collaboration & CommunicationCommunicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and program informationWork collaboratively with other professional staff to address student academic and social needsParticipate in curriculum development and implementation initiatives Professional ResponsibilitiesMaintain professional competence through district and self-selected professional developmentParticipate in staff meetings, faculty committees, and school activitiesSupport student activities and school initiatives as appropriate Other DutiesPerform additional duties as assigned to support school operations and student success Minimum Qualifications EducationBachelor's Degree required LicensureValid Colorado Teaching License issued by the Colorado Department of EducationAppropriate Science endorsement for the teaching assignment ExperienceExperience working with youth preferred Technical SkillsKnowledge of the Sciencecurriculum and instructional practicesAbility to differentiate instruction to support diverse learnersStrong classroom management and student engagement skillsEffective communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to use educational technology and district instructional systems Licenses and CertificationsValid Colorado Driver's License required Supervisory ResponsibilitiesNo direct supervisory responsibilities.
