As a Test‑Validation Engineer you will execute and deliver precision testing of various Kidde products. In this role, you will focus on the product testing, creation of testing protocols and requirement validation to ensure quality performance for our customers and agencies from around the world. Join us today and be a part of a world leader in fire, safety, and security company.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nProduct testing and validation development\n\nReview and thoroughly understand product schematics and client requirements for the fire detection products including smoke, CO, and heat sensors for commercial and residential markets. Also, fire notification products that include strobes, sounders and speakers.\n\nTesting Edwards Fire Systems with a focus on devices ensuring all product operations and functionality.\n\nCreate and execute testing and validation procedures for each product assigned.\n\nGuarantee that the product tests meet agency requirements. (Agencies include UL, ULC, FM, CSFM, FCC, CE, EN‑54, and CCCF)\n\nEnsure that each electrical component, system and even testing equipment are properly functioning in excellent condition.\n\nTest products using various tools like computer software, surface mount technology (SMT), electrical equipment (such as oscilloscopes and multimeters) and specific testing techniques (such as smoke boxes, heat tunnels, environmental chambers, etc.).\n\nUse HPQC (Hewitt Packard Quality Center) testing procedures to develop programs for hardware and software operation.\n\nRecord all testing processes and log all defects in the HPQC.\n\nTroubleshoot with the engineering department when issues are found during testing.\n\nCollaborate with other test engineers as well as the design engineers on various product development projects in order to maintain constant communication among teams.\n\nMaintain all assigned test plans and schedules for assigned projects.\n\nManagement of the engineering test lab\n\nAssist in the maintenance of the testing lab, ensuring that the lab equipment and system samples are organized.\n\nMaintain installation instructions and manuals in the lab.\n\nArchive test processes and results.\n\nEnsure that there is a clean, safe, and organized common workspace.\n\nBasic Qualifications\n\nHS Diploma or GED.\n\n2+ years of experience working in an engineering test lab and testing various electrical devices and components.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nExperience with JIRA software.\n\nKnowledge of the fire and safety industry.\n\nUnderstanding of how to use sound measurements, light measurements, smoke tunnels, fire test rooms, smoke boxes, heat tunnels, CO chambers, etc.\n\nGeneral understanding of engineering equipment like soldering irons, hand‑held power tools.\n\nExcellent self‑task management/prioritization and documentation skills in a R&D or testing lab environment.\n\nUnderstands how to read and interpret schematics.\n\nBasic knowledge of low voltage electronics.\n\nExpert on Microsoft Office (especially Excel and macros in Excel).\n\nDemonstrated analytical and problem solving skills with little to no supervision.\n\nInterpersonal skills to work with several departments, including engineering and production.\n\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\n\nAbility to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.\n\nOn occasions, this role will be required to climb ladders and stairs with or without reasonable accommodations.\n\nMust be authorized to work in the U.S.A. without restrictions.\n\nWhat You Will Gain\n\nHealth Coverage: Choose from three medical plans, dental, and vision options.\n\nFinancial Protection: Health Savings Accounts (HSA), Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), Life, AD&D, and Disability Insurance.\n\nPaid Time Off: Vacation, sick days, company holidays, and various leave options (parental, FMLA, etc).\n\nEmployee Support: EAP, adoption/surrogacy assistance, additional voluntary health benefits.\n\nRetirement: 401(k) plan with employer match.\n\nCompensation And Benefits\nThe base salary range for this role is $70,550.00 – $83,000.00.
