Effective communication is essential, as this role collaborates with customers, engineering staff, and cross-functional stakeholders. The Software Development Manager reports to the Chief Engineer for their product division, brings extensive knowledge of software development processes, and plays a key role in maintaining and improving existing software through enhancements, upgrades, and issue resolution.\n\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nLead and manage a team of software engineers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and performance management to ensure high-quality deliverables.\nPlan, direct, and coordinate software development activities across the full development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.\nEstablish and promote best practices, standards, and processes for software development to ensure efficiency, quality, and scalability.\nCollaborate with product management, engineering leadership, and cross-functional teams to define requirements, prioritize work, and align development efforts with business goals.\nEvaluate technical feasibility, review designs and solutions, and assist in resolving complex technical and production issues.\nOversee team workload and day-to-day operations to ensure project milestones and departmental goals are met within approved timelines and budgets.\nServe as a technical and procedural resource for software developers, providing guidance on policies, tools, and development methodologies.\n\nESSENTIAL EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, JOB SKILLS\n5 years of experience as a Software Engineer, Computer Engineer, or other related experience.\nA Bachelor's degree in a Business Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.\n3 to 5 years of experience in a supervisory or technical leadership role preferred.\nProject Management Certification preferred.\nProgramming skills in C# or one or more of these programming languages: Java, C++, ASP.NET, and Microsoft SQL.\nExperience working in Agile software development environments, including collaboration with cross-functional teams and iterative delivery.\nStrong understanding of software development best practices, system design, and application lifecycle management.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.\n\nPREFERRED SKILLS\nExperience working with Program Managers\nExperience in a Matrix/Helix organization\nProject Management Certification.\nVehicle, process, or robotic automation experience.\nKnowledge of Logistics markets such as Distribution centers, warehouses, shipping ports, Intermodal yards and Yard Management Systems.\nExperience with 3rd party API's\n\nAt Autonomous Solutions, Inc.
