The engineer will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams supporting complex electromechanical systems and timing-critical hardware platforms.The ideal candidate is comfortable operating close to the hardware, debugging across system layers, and independently solving difficult low-level technical problems.What You’ll Be DoingDesign, develop, and maintain embedded Linux software for complex real-time systemsWrite, modify, and debug Linux device drivers supporting custom hardwareIntegrate hardware components using low-level communication protocols including PCIe, SPI, I²C, UART, and USBWork closely with electrical, FPGA, mechanical, and systems engineering teams to support hardware integration into the OS layerSupport timing-sensitive control systems and hardware subsystemsTroubleshoot issues spanning hardware, firmware, drivers, and operating systemsDevelop unit and integration testing for embedded systems validationDocument software architecture, implementations, and validation effortsBachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar technical field3–5 years of embedded software development experienceStrong hands-on experience with embedded Linux environments including:Yocto or similar embedded Linux build systemsKernel-level development and debuggingLinux device driver developmentExperience with hardware/software integration involving:PCIeSPII²CUARTUSBStrong understanding of how hardware interfaces with the operating system layerStrong C/C++ programming experienceComfortable working independently on complex low-level engineering problemsMust be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorshipNice to HaveExperience with GPUs or SoC acceleratorsFamiliarity with real-time control systemsExperience working within regulated development environmentsBackground collaborating with cross-functional hardware and firmware teamsExposure to robotics, automation, or other complex hardware environmentsTechnology Doesn't Change the World, People Do.®Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
