Are you ready to change the world with us?\n\nABOUT THE ROLE\nThe Sr. Engineer is responsible for being a technical subject matter expert for detailed utility‑scale solar and energy storage design and analysis through the lifecycle of the project. This role can work directly on a specific project, but primarily supports across the portfolio of projects and partners with senior leadership on critical tasks.\n\nLocation preference is local to our Boise HQ, however, this role can be remote for exceptionally qualified candidates.\n\nWHAT YOU'LL DO\n\nEvaluate, analyze, and recommend equipment and design specifications to external suppliers and internal Procurement partners based on technical design of the project.\n\nReview and support the creation of photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage production estimates using commercial software programs like PVsyst or in‑house models.\n\nLead development of in‑house models and provide guidance on evolving best practices for model assumptions uncertainty assessment.\n\nLead Independent Engineer (IE) due diligence including contract management, reviewing IE reports, IE energy assessments, and providing feedback as needed.\n\nProvide SME expertise support on diligence logs and calls with IE and bank partners.\n\nProvide subject matter expertise in a variety of areas and shape department best practices for Owner Engineering review and approval.\n\nProvide technical review, input, and risk assessment, and lead technical negotiations for key contracts and agreements including Interconnection, Equipment Procurement, Power Purchase, EPC, and O&M.\n\nDevelop technical specifications for engineering design guidelines.\n\nServe as SME in discussions with contractors. Make design alternative decisions based on value engineering analysis and risk assessment.\n\nCollaborate with individual department, as well as cross‑functionally with other departments within the organization.\n\nMaintain organizational excellence in terms of project timelines and deliverables.\n\nDemonstrates the Clēnera Core Values of Caring, Committed, and Courageous.\n\nOther duties as assigned.\n\nMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS\n\nEducation: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field.\n\nExperience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical engineering, the electrical power industry, or related, including a minimum of 5 years of experience in photovoltaic and/or energy storage engineering\n\nTechnology: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and an ability to learn company‑specific software programs, tools, processes, and machines.\n\nSkills/Attributes:\n\nSubject matter expert in several specific types of equipment and understanding technical specs associated with advantages and risks of using a product.\n\nExpert in advanced energy modeling methodologies, adept at creating sophisticated models to accurately predict energy dynamics and enhance system efficiency.\n\nAbility to effectively lead engineering due diligence for financing and independent engineering partners.\n\nComfortable leading various aspects of value engineering and doing initial investigation of pros and cons, and provide influence in the design decisions.\n\nSubject matter expert of test procedures and test results based on EPC Agreements.\n\nProven ability to build, navigate, and manage complex interpersonal relationships and conflicts, fostering collaborative relationships internally and externally.\n\nAbility to independently anticipate, gather, and understand project requirements to effectively lead project engineering.
