Job SummaryThe Senior Director, Data Strategy & Operations leads commercial data management, operations and governance, optimizing commercial data assets to drive enhanced customer experiences and operational excellence. As a key member of the Business Analysis Leadership Team, they inspire teams through innovation, intellectual curiosity, disciplined execution, and proactive talent development.Job DescriptionServe as product owner for commercial data across OAPILead the development and maintenance of the commercial data transformation roadmapLead Data Governance focused on third-party data assets, designing, operating and evolving governance based on stakeholder, vendor and organizational needsCollaborate with business units to define, establish, and implement data strategies and global governance of data standards and processes for both personal (HCPs, HCOs) and non-personal master data to support analytics, customer operations, and improve customer experienceLead continued development and enforcement of guiding principles, processes, governance, and ongoing support for the commercial use of HCP dataDemonstrate operational excellence through effective and efficient delivery across multiple portfolios, including resourcing, prioritization, timeline management, and functional outsourcingLead and manage international teams with onshore and offshore resources, collaborating with IT to drive innovation within the commercial data ecosystem, and champion continuous enhancement of commercial reporting infrastructureFunction as a knowledge base and resource for project teams; serve as point of escalation and resolution for the Data Enablement organizationGuide and inform broader organization on data scouting and acquisition opportunities, including strategic use of data vendorsFoster a culture that embraces strategic use of data in decision making to enable greater business outcomesBuild a learning culture within and outside the Data Strategy & Operations team, providing growth and development opportunitiesEnsure collaborations and communications with key stakeholders of Data StewardshipAttract, retain, develop and promote talent to build a team with an optimal balance of experience and diverse perspectivesAs a member of the Business Analysis Leadership Team, model the balance of innovation and intellectual curiosity with discipline and structure; be a champion of value-add change and evolution and inspire and motivate othersQualifications / RequiredExperience working within the pharmaceutical industry with functional leadership experience within data operations organizationsExperience supporting development and commercial portfolios spanning multiple products, therapeutic areas and development phasesStrong understanding of data governance principles, frameworks, and best practicesFamiliarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to data privacy and securityExcellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to influence and drive change in a complex organizational environmentStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess and manage data-related risksProgramming/Coding proficiency in SQL and experience and/or understanding of other statistical tools such as R, Python and SASFamiliarity with third-party data sources (IQVIA, Symphony Health, Komodo Health, etc.)Experience in data reporting tools such as MicroStrategy, Power BI, etc.Strong analytical/quantitative skills and ability to understand the big pictureManagement of a budget, inclusive of resourcing and outsourcing and discretionary spend; experience driving large, complex change efforts and achieving results through influenceAssess quickly with a track record of quickly understanding new situations and adding immediate valueExceptional ability to co-create and work collectively with various business leaders and other key stakeholdersExcellent oral and written communication skills; ability to organize, conceptually interpret and clearly communicate material developed collaboratively via the input of multiple parties; translate complexity into actionable insightsEffective influencing and negotiation skillsUp to 10% travel is required based upon business needsEducational QualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Economics, Statistics, Data Science, Business, Marketing Analytics)10+ years of experience in data governance, data management, analytics or related roles5+ years of people management experience; Other elements may be used to determine actual pay such as the candidate's job experience, specific skills, and comparison to internal incumbents currently in a role. Typically, actual pay will be positioned within the established range, rather than at its minimum or maximum.
