Primary Care Physician

Compensation: $250,000 - $260,000/yr At CoreCivic, we do more than manage inmates, we care for people. CoreCivic is currently seeking Physician who have a passion for providing the highest quality care in an institutional setting. The Primary Care Physician is responsible for providing comprehensive primary healthcare services to incarcerated individuals within a correctional facility. This includes diagnosing and treating acute and chronic illnesses, managing preventive care, and coordinating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of quality healthcare services within a medical home model. The successful applicant should be able to perform ALL of the following functions at a pace and level of performance consistent with the actual job performance requirements. Primary Healthcare Services:* Conduct thorough medical evaluations, physical examinations, and medical histories for incarcerated individuals * Diagnose and treat a wide range of acute and chronic illnesses, injuries, and infections. * Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, prescribing appropriate medications, therapies, and interventions. * Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as pharmaceuticals, laboratory work, radiological examinations, and screenings. Provide vaccinations, perform health screenings, and promote preventive care measures within the correctional population. * Basic technical skills such as suturing, splinting and injections.Chronic Disease Management:* Monitor and manage chronic diseases prevalent among incarcerated individuals, such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, HIV/AIDS, and Hepatitis C. * Ensure proper medication management, including prescribing, adjusting dosages, and monitoring treatment effectiveness. * Educate patients on disease management strategies, lifestyle modifications, and medication adherence. * Collaborate with specialty care providers for consultations and referrals, when necessary.Emergency Medical Services:* Respond to medical emergencies within the correctional facility, providing immediate assessment, stabilization, and necessary interventions. * Coordinate with emergency medical services or arrange for transfers to external medical facilities, when required. * Participate in emergency preparedness planning and training exercises to ensure efficient emergency response within the correctional settingCollaboration and Coordination:* Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, psychologists, psychiatrists, dentists, social workers, and other correctional staff, to ensure coordinated and integrated healthcare delivery. * Communicate effectively with healthcare team members, providing necessary information, consultations, and referrals. * Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance the overall healthcare delivery system.Documentation and Compliance:* Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including patient histories, diagnoses, treatments, and medications administered. * Adhere to patient confidentiality regulations and ensure the security and privacy of medical records. * Comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies governing correctional healthcare and professional ethical standards.Professional Development:* Stay updated with the latest advancements in primary care, correctional medicine, and relevant healthcare regulations. * Engage in continuous professional development activities. * Provide training and education to correctional staff on primary healthcare topics, as needed.Qualifications:* Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution. * Current and unrestricted medical license to practice medicine in the state/jurisdiction where the correctional facility is located and DEA * Valid state identification. * Experience in primary care, preferably with experience in correctional medicine or working with underserved populations. * Strong diagnostic and clinical skills, with the ability to manage a diverse range of acute and chronic medical conditions. * Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills. * Ability to work effectively in a challenging and dynamic environment.CoreCivic is a Drug-Free Workplace and EOE - including Disability/Veteran Compensation Information: $250000.00 / Annually - $260000.00 / Annually
