Job OverviewThe Monitor ISS will perform skilled paraprofessional work which requires the incumbent to assist the classroom teacher in performing a variety of tasks designed to enhance the learning of students identified as academically and/or behaviorally at risk.Position DescriptionEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesMonitor students assigned to In School Suspension and P.M. detentionRelieve teachers, as needed in the classroomCoordinate assignments with teachers; reinforce teacher lesson plans and assignments; review progress; administer testsCommunicate with teachers and supervise in a timely manner regarding student progressMaintain attendance and cumulative records; monitor the movement of students in the buildingAssist with classroom management at the discretion of the teacher, e.g., monitoring student behavior, following management behavior plan, encouraging students to work independently, ensuring students understand and follow established classroom rules for acceptable behaviorCheck student work, including objective test materialsMaintain records and files; perform general clerical dutiesAssist with supervision in the cafeteria during lunch timesSupervisory ResponsibilitiesNoneQualification RequirementsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the above essential duties satisfactorily.
