This role ensures that Subzero Engineering employees and lower tier subcontractors perform work safely and in compliance with OSHA, company policies, and site-specific safety plans.The Safety Coordinator identifies, corrects, documents, and communicates jobsite hazards within the Company’s scope of work and coordinates corrective actions with the EHS Manager and GC when hazards affect other trades or shared work areas.Essential Duties & Responsibilities: To successfully perform this job, an individual must be able to fulfill each essential duty satisfactorily. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.Conduct daily safety inspections of work areas, equipment, and operationsIdentify, correct, and document hazards related to fall protection, elevated work, material handling, rigging, scissor lifts, aerial work platforms, forklifts, and telehandlersImmediately address unsafe conditions involving personnel or equipmentCoordinate hazard mitigation with the EHS Manager and GC safety team when issues impact other trades or shared spacesEnforce compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926, company safety policies, and GC Site Specific Safety PlansSupport implementation of subcontractor safety programs and GC safety requirementsParticipate in incident, injury, and near miss investigations and ensure timely reportingAssist with Job Hazard Analyses and Activity Hazard AnalysesSupport emergency response procedures as directedConduct or assist with safety orientations, task specific briefings, and toolbox talksVerify required training, certifications, and operator qualificationsMaintain inspection reports, training records, incident documentation, and corrective action trackingMaintain regular and reliable attendancePerform other duties as assignedAuthorityAuthorized to stop work when unsafe conditions or behaviors are observedAuthorized to require corrective actions prior to work resumingEscalate unresolved or site wide hazards to the GC safety management team immediately Safety RequirementsComply with OSHA regulations and company safety policies and proceduresReport unsafe conditions promptlyAttend required safety trainingSupport safety goals and recommend improvementsFollow safe work practices, including ergonomics, PPE use, and lockout procedures Minimum RequirementsHigh school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferredTwo to five years of construction safety experience, preferably in a subcontractor environmentOSHA 30 Hour Construction certification requiredOSHA 510 or 511, or equivalent training, preferredDemonstrated competency in hazard recognition within the Company’s scope of workUnderstanding of GC controlled jobsite safety coordinationStrong communication and collaboration skillsAbility to professionally enforce safety requirements in the fieldValid driver’s license with ability to pass initial and annual DMV reviewExperience in Microsoft Office and construction-related tracking and reporting software.
