Analyzer Technician Job DescriptionAn Analyzer Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, calibrating, troubleshooting, and repairing analytical instrumentation used in industrial facilities such as refineries, chemical plants, power plants, and manufacturing sites. These instruments monitor process conditions, product quality, emissions, and safety compliance.Common analyzers include:Gas chromatographs (GC)Oxygen analyzerspH analyzersMoisture analyzersConductivity analyzersEmissions monitoring systemsSpectrometersProcess sampling systemsAnalyzer Technicians work closely with operations, instrumentation, maintenance, and engineering teams to ensure accurate and reliable analyzer performance.Typical Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform preventive maintenance on analytical equipmentCalibrate and validate analyzers according to company proceduresTroubleshoot instrument and sampling system issuesRepair or replace faulty analyzer componentsMaintain accurate maintenance and calibration recordsEnsure compliance with safety and environmental regulationsSupport plant startups, shutdowns, and turnaroundsRead and interpret P&IDs, loop drawings, and technical manualsConfigure analyzer software and communication systemsAssist with analyzer installations and commissioningVerify analyzer accuracy against laboratory resultsMaintain sample conditioning systems and probesCoordinate with operations to minimize downtimeFollow lockout/tagout (LOTO) and permit proceduresMaintain housekeeping and safe work practices in analyzer shelters and process areasRequired Skills and QualificationsKnowledge of industrial instrumentation and process controlsExperience with analytical instrumentation and calibrationUnderstanding of electrical systems and troubleshootingFamiliarity with PLC/DCS systemsAbility to read technical drawings and schematicsStrong problem-solving and communication skillsKnowledge of OSHA and plant safety standardsAssociate degree or technical certification preferredExperience in petrochemical, refinery, or manufacturing environments preferredCommon Work EnvironmentAnalyzer Technicians typically work:In chemical plants, refineries, LNG facilities, or industrial plantsBoth indoors and outdoorsAround high-temperature and hazardous process equipmentOn rotating schedules, call-outs, or overtime when neededPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS1.
