This Gov't Agency is owned and managed data system, which facilitates the flow of information to and from a variety of customers and data sources associated with the background investigation and adjudication process. We need your information technology expertise and consulting background to support operations and maintenance of the Governments system to develop and implement a broad range of reporting initiatives. Such services shall entail the development of reporting solutions and recommendations and the assistance in implementing the solutions and recommendations to meet the information needs of the client and its customers.Responsibilities:Develop software code to create, enhance, resolve, and/or maximize IT solutions to support reporting processesAssist with and/or support the deployment of system updates/enhancements/upgradesTroubleshoot and resolve issues related to the applications and systemsAutomate manual processesImplement data retention schedule for the applicationsDevelop queries/reportsRecommend alternative database structure to improve/enhance performance and to ensure the long-term sustainability of the projectTroubleshoot/optimize the performance of associated databases and connectionsMigrate existing applications to (newer) identified environmentsDocument historical, current, and future enhancement effortsGather user requirements and develop automated specifications/requirementsBuild/enhance data dictionaries to include defining metadata management approaches and data governance processesIdentify, design, and implement solutions for extraction and integration of data from legacy systems for reporting, decision support, and analysisQualificationsRequired Education:Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, information technology (IT), or a related disciplineRequired Experience:3 to 5+ years of software development experience working with multiple programming languages, frameworks and platforms, Agile software development methodologies, planning and implementing system rolloutAbility to be onsite in DC 2 days per monthDemonstrated experience working with Cognos ReportingDemonstrated experience working with SharePointDemonstrated experience working with MS Access DatabaseDemonstrated experience working with Visual Basic.NETDemonstrated experience working with MS Access VBAExperience using Jira and ConfluenceRequired Clearance:Minimum of a CBP BI or Top SecretU.S. CitizenshipDesired Qualifications:Active CBP BIExperience with CBPAnalytical, design and problem-solving skills at multi-product/multi-environment level to troubleshoot system defects and mitigate the issues they causeSkills in research and analysis, project planning and implementation. Understanding and awareness of business issues as they impact overall project plansExcellent verbal and written communications skills, with an ability to express and document complex technical concepts in business terms.
