To implement this plan, we are looking to add dedicated people to the team who treat people well, improve our work by adding multifaceted perspectives and new ways of solving problems, have achieved outstanding results through a range of pursuits, and have skills and experience related to this role.\nThis individual is responsible for performing all in-house welding work for cutting edge high-field superconducting magnets and tokamak assemblies. This individual also partners with the welding engineer and R&D engineers to develop the weld geometry and techniques, weld specs, and inspection methods needed for welded assemblies for the SPARC tokamak.\nHours: 2:30 pm - 11:30 pm\nRate: $30.00 - $41.00 per hour with 2nd shift having a +10% differential\nSchedule: Monday through Friday, weekends and holidays as needed with overtime pay\nThis team member will:\nWeld and inspect large metallic structures and tooling within specified timelines and budgets\nSet up welding processes as per specifications, incl. determining the correct equipment to use and methods based on the requirements\nRead and analyze drawings and take detailed measurements to plan the project layout\nCut and join material\nPerform hand welding or semi-automated welding. Utilize advanced forms of welding when needed. Weld components in vertical, flat, and overhead positions\nProvide manufacturability feedback to design engineers for weld geometries and material selection\nPerform welding equipment qualification trials\nTroubleshoot and resolve manufacturing discrepancies with a focus on continuous improvement\nFollow safety procedures at all times\nThe ideal candidate will have most, if not all, of these requirements:\nDocumented Training or Certification in most of the following: Blueprint Reading and Fabrication, Oxyacetylene Welding, Cutting, Brazing, Basic Shielded Metal Arc Welding, (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), Advanced Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)\n5+ years' experience as a welder on large structural systems and tooling\nExperience with large metallic structures and manufacturing processes related to welding\nExperience in producing welds to pass industry standard requirements\nAdditional experience and/or qualifications:\nExperience in welding for pressure vessel, aerospace, and/or nuclear applications\nGTAW, GMAW, SMAW, Plasma Arc and/or Electron Beam and Laser Welding Experience\nExperience operating mechanized or automated welding equipment\nThe ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation\nExcellent attention to detail\nKnowledge of various forms of welding equipment and procedures\nThe capacity to work unsupervised\nA detailed understanding of mathematical and numerical data and calculations\nProject and time management\nAbility to lift up to 50 lbs regularly\nPerform activities such as stooping, typing, standing, and sitting for extended periods of time\nDedication to safety to mitigate industrial hazards that may include heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead (Pb), high voltage, and cryogenics\nWillingness to travel occasionally or do required nights/weekends/on-call\nCFS team members thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and have demonstrated exceptional results through a range of different pursuits.
