Job SummaryThe Shipping and Receiving Specialist manages and oversees all aspects of shipping and receiving operations, ensuring the efficient handling of goods and maintaining accurate inventory. This role is crucial to maintaining the flow of materials and products through our testing facility and requires a high level of accuracy, accountability, and coordination. The Shipping and Receiving Specialist will oversee the receipt, inspection, and documentation of incoming shipments, ensuring that all items meet quality standards. They will also be responsible for preparing and packaging outgoing shipments, coordinating with carriers, and ensuring that all shipments are accurately documented and tracked.Core Position ResponsibilitiesReceive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders, noting any discrepancies or damage.Record and manage inventory levels, ensuring accuracy and preparing reports as needed.Prepare and process outbound shipments, including selecting appropriate shipping methods, packing, and creating goods securely, and completing all necessary paperwork.Coordinate with carriers and freight services for timely pick-up and delivery, tracking shipments and resolving any issues that arise.Operate warehouse equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, adhering to all safety regulations.Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment, complying with all safety and procedural guidelines.Assist in inventory counts and audits as required.Communicate effectively with suppliers, carriers, and internal teams to optimize logistics processes.Other duties as assigned.SkillsAbility to maintain order in a warehouse or storage facility, ensuring items are properly labeled, stored, and easily accessibleAttention to detail, which is critical for verifying shipment contents, checking documentation accuracy, and identifying discrepanciesEfficiently prioritize tasks to meet shipping deadlines and manage multiple incoming and outgoing shipments simultaneouslyFamiliarity with inventory management software, barcode scanners, and forkliftFlexibility to adjust to changing priorities, fluctuating shipment volumes, and new productsAccurate record-keeping of shipments, inventory levels, and any issues or incidents related to shipping and receiving activitiesMinimum Position RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent; further education or certification in logistics is a plus1-2 years of experience in a shipping and receiving roleForklift certification, preferredProven experience in shipping and receiving roles, preferably in a manufacturing or testing environmentProficiency in warehouse management systems and Microsoft OfficeMust possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and any other endorsements necessary to legally operate vehicles used while assigned to this positionWork EnvironmentWork has frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions, occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions (non-weather), possible exposure to fumes or airborne particles. Due to high degree of travel, other work environments not classified above may also be encountered.Essential Physical ActivitiesWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to stand, walk, and/or sit.
