HR & Office Operations Manager (Hybrid Role)
Aspen Garden & Landscape is a growing, medium-sized design / build landscape company taking a deliberate step toward becoming a more professionally run, people-first organization- without losing the culture, personality, and care that got us here.
We’re hiring an HR & Office Operations Manager to help strengthen our internal systems, support our team, and bring clarity and structure to a business that is actively improving and evolving.
This is a high-trust, high-impact role with real influence on how the company operates day to day.
The Role
This role sits at the intersection of:
Human Resources
Office & administrative operations
Systems, documentation, and internal clarity
You’ll work closely with leadership to turn ideas, goals, and conversations into organized systems that actually function.
If you enjoy making other people’s jobs easier, bringing order to complexity, and creating calm through good systems—this role will feel rewarding.
How & Where the Work Happens
This is a hybrid role. While there are times when being in the office is important—especially during the busy season—we care far more about outcomes and reliability than physical location.
In-season: roughly 50% in-office, with flexibility for focused work from home
Winter: closer to 25% in-office, with more remote flexibility
Schedule: full-time is ideal, but part-time or flexible schedules may be considered for the right person
We support reasonable flexibility for family, kids, and life, as long as responsibilities are met
We believe good people can work from home and get a ton done. This role is built on trust, clarity, and follow-through, not micromanagement.
Core Responsibilities
Human Resources & People Systems
Build and run a clear, supportive HR function
Coordinate hiring, onboarding, training documentation, and employee records
Support performance feedback, reviews, and development pathways
Help create a workplace that is inclusive, respectful, and improvement-oriented
Serve as a trusted point of contact for employees and leadership
Benefits & Long-Term Team Investment
Research and help implement health insurance and retirement benefits
Partner with leadership to evaluate benefit options thoughtfully and sustainably
Help communicate benefits clearly and transparently to the team
Office & Operational Systems
Run day-to-day office operations with structure and follow-through
Organize documents, files, and internal information so things are findable and consistent
Improve workflows, communication systems, and internal handoffs
Help transform ideas and conversations into clear next steps and documented processes
Working Style & Skills That Matter Here
Success in this role requires someone who can:
Be consistent and dependable, while also able to pivot when priorities change
Work comfortably with some ambiguity—and then reduce ambiguity for others
Take scattered information, conversations, and ideas and turn them into usable systems
Create flow where there is friction
Bring calm, structure, and momentum to a growing organization
A phrase that fits this role well:
Take some level of chaos and make it function and flow.
Technical & Organizational Skills
We’re looking for someone who is strong in:
Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, permissions & organization)
Excel / Google Sheets at a practical, systems-oriented level
Organizing documents, standards, and internal reference materials
Comfort using modern tools like Google Gemini, ChatGPT, or similar AI tools to improve clarity and efficiency
Creating systems that others can actually use and maintain
You don’t need to be a tech wizard—but you do need to be thoughtful and systematic.
Optional / Hybrid Growth Areas
Depending on your interests and background, this role can flex to include:
Light marketing or internal communications support
Coordination support tied to horticulture or landscape design, if you bring relevant experience
Helping connect office systems with field operations
We value T-shaped people: strong in core responsibilities, curious beyond them.
You may be a great fit if you:
Have experience in HR, office management, operations, or people systems
Enjoy organizing information, processes, and support structures
Care deeply about fairness, clarity, and doing right by people
Are comfortable in a company that is growing and improving—not pretending to be perfect
Take pride in making organizations run better behind the scenes
Landscape experience is a plus, but not required.
Why Aspen Garden & Landscape
We’re intentionally building a healthy, transparent, long-term business
Leadership is engaged and invested in better systems
This role has real influence, not just busywork
We value improvement over perfection
We respect people’s time, lives, and contributions
This is an opportunity to help build the foundation, not just maintain it.
