HR Generalist

Position Summary: The HR Generalist plays a vital role in fostering a positive work environment, ensuring Pelham Hospitality's compliance while engaging and supporting the resort's employees throughout their entire employment lifecycle. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Collaborate with the Executive Director of HR to implement HR strategies, policies, and procedures that align with the organization's goals and values. Oversee the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding, HRIS management, benefits and offboarding. Assist with the recruitment process, including posting job vacancies, screening resumes, and initial phone screens. Manage the Unemployment Insurance requests and needs. Manage the Workers Compensation claims and follow-up. Provide training, including Employee Orientations, as needed, for new Supervisors and Managers, in collaboration with the Executive Director of HR. Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and ensure compliance with employment laws, annual reporting and regulations including ensuring the most up to date information is posted and available. Administer employee benefits programs, ensuring employees have a comprehensive understanding of our offerings, working with benefit contacts to resolve any issues as well as Leave coordination. Collaborate with finance and payroll departments to ensure payroll can be done accurately and on time. Stay up-to-date with HR trends and best practices to continually work with the Executive Director of HR to improve HR policies, procedures, the HR SOP and employee engagement. Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; HRIS maintenance and onboarding; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development. Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, escalating complex and/or sensitive matters to the Executive Director of HR. Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. Supports and manages HR projects by identifying trends, assessing root causes, and recommending practical solutions to improve processes, compliance, and employee experience. Leverages HRIS and electronic tools to streamline processes, maintain accurate records, and reduce manual or paper-based workflows. Acts as a culture ambassador by modeling company values, reinforcing positive behaviors, and coaching leaders and employees to support a respectful, inclusive, and engaged workplace. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Understanding of HR principles, employment laws, and regulations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with employees and management. Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google platform. HRIS systems and other HR-related software preferred. High level of confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive employee information. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to multitask and continually prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Positive attitude and a genuine passion for promoting a positive work culture and supporting our employees. Demonstrates a proactive, solutions-oriented approach by anticipating HR needs, seeking out information independently, and adapting priorities as business needs evolve. Strong project management skills. Ability to navigate sensitive, ambiguous, and challenging employee situations with professionalism, sound judgment, and a learning mindset. Approaches HR support with a strong customer-service mindset while balancing employee advocacy and organizational needs. Education and Experience: A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in HR, with previous experience in the hospitality industry considered a plus. Physical Requirements: Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move around the resort for extended periods. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. This role is 100% on-site and requires a regular presence throughout the resort to support employees and leadership.
