Please consider joining our growing team today!\nAs a Software Developer II, you are responsible for placing safety as #1 priority in day-to-day work routine for self and others. Under the direction of the Senior Software Developer/Architect, you design applications using full stack technologies from start to finish and support internal applications across the company. You interface with users to meet business operational needs through the use of technology. You study existing business functions and system applications in order to design, develop, and implement the data structures, programs, and documentation necessary to automate and enhance the company’s business processes in accordance with department standards. You also support the development of the essential core design of features that meet the needs of various applications throughout the organization.\nLOCATION: Bismarck, ND or in a geographic location near a Knife River location.\nMinimum Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems or a related field or equivalent experience; and\nFour years of Information Technology experience with proven record of increasing development responsibility and project analysis; and\nTwo years of experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code), with proficiency in current AI code generation (“vibe coding”) workflows and the ability to review, refine, and validate AI-generated code.\nKey Skills and Competencies:\nExcellent written, interpersonal and verbal communication skills.\nBroad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in one or more business applications.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.\nAble to manage multiple priorities.\nExperience in software design and development in a business environment.\nUnderstanding of and ability to maintain confidentiality of all company information.\nInterface Development Key Skills\nHighly proficient in Java and related frameworks such as Hibernate, Spring, SpringBoot.\nProficient architecting and implementing RESTful web service solutions.\nProficient with Message Queues.\nWEB Key Skills\nHighly proficient in one or more of the following: Web Services, Java Script, Java, C#, .Net, MVC, HTML, CSS, SQL, Node.js, React, Angular (Full Stack Development).\nProficient with Oracle or SQL databases.\nProficient with web services and microservices.\nData Warehouse Key Skills\nProficient at Architecting data warehouse solutions.\nProficient in Database Design, Data Modeling.\nProficient in Database Programming.\nProficient in transforming business requirements into logical data model.\nKnowledge of ETL tools and designing ETL processes.\nOther Requirements:\nMust take all measures necessary to protect networks, devices, programs and data from cyber-attack, damage or unauthorized access.\nMay be required to maintain a valid driver’s license.\nMay be required to participate in an on-call rotation.\nIf the need for unescorted access to security sensitive business locations and/or systems (i.e. Electric EMS system), must submit to periodic background checks.\nJob Responsibilities:\nWork independently with clients and consultants on traditional maintenance and enhancement tasks and/or as part of a team of developers on major projects.\nReview, analyze, evaluate, and document requested modification to existing and new business processes and system applications. Assist senior staff members or project leads in the study of feasibility and cost effectiveness of proposed enhancements.\nProvides production support to address application errors encountered during processing. Such support may require on-call duties extending beyond normal business hours. On-call duties are shared with other team members on a rotating basis as determined by the manager.\nParticipates in software development activities as well as guides activities of other staff members; develops test plans, test data and documentation.
