Primary focus is on the instrumentation engineering aspect; however, expect involvement in other aspects of the design process. Instrumentation design tasks may include instrument selection, valve specification, cable selection including wire/cable sizing. Other typical design aspects may include preparation of tray routing, wire routes, etc.\r\nWork with Functional Safety Project Manager to prioritize and implement projects to support Client migration and PHA efforts.\r\nProvide a basis for utilization of instruments/valves based on Client Functional Safety procedures\r\nDevelop/update instrument spec sheets, loop sheets, connection diagrams, electrical schematics, EFDs(P&IDs)\r\nDevelop cable schedules, instrument indices, equipment lists, and material takeoffs\r\nPrepare requests for bids for subcontractors and material vendors.\r\nPrepare construction and equipment specifications, including means and methods.\r\nCompare bids and recommend the selection of subcontractors and material vendors.\r\nPerform field walks on project opportunities to determine the available DCS connections, existing instruments and control schemes, utility/facility constraints, and assist with preparation of cost estimates.\r\nWork with site DCS team to implement changes to the DCS as it applies to assigned projects\r\nUnderstand and have experience working with various voltage levels including: 24VDC, 120VAC, and 480VAC\r\nUnderstand and have experience working with instrumentation systems including: 4-20mA, 0-5VDC, and 0-10VDC\r\n\r\nField Engineering\r\n\r\nPerform the function of field engineer, including hands on field work and/or field engineering, supervision of subcontractors on the jobsite, review of daily work schedule and budget.\r\nPerform QA/QC in the field to ensure construction work is performed in accordance with design specifications.\r\nCommunicate and coordinate work quality or safety concerns to the Client construction coordinator, project manager, general manager, and technology manager as necessary to ensure proper and safe completion of the project.\r\nAssist the Client construction supervisor and system operators with equipment commissioning and startup, and operational troubleshooting as necessary.\r\n\r\nRequired Qualifications\r\n\r\nAt least 8 years instrumentation engineering experience\r\n\r\no Prefer at least 5 years experience in chemical production or refinery\r\n\r\nStrong written and verbal communication skills\r\nStrong computer skills, including proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite\r\n\r\nPreferred Skills\r\n\r\nKnowledge in Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), Safety Integrity Level (SIL) and Safety Requirement Specifications (SRS)\r\nExperience and practical knowledge with International Electrotechnical Commission Standard IEC 61508\r\n\r\nEducation Required\r\n\r\nBS or higher Electrical Engineering degree\r\n\r\nSkills/Aptitudes:\r\n\r\nSelf-starter\r\nDemonstrated leadership skills\r\nAbility to take direction and act independently\r\nStrong organization skills\r\nAbility to manage multiple priorities\r\nAbility to climb stairs or ladders unassisted\r\n\r\nLevel of Supervision\r\n\r\nWork independently based on general instructions, directions or objectives received from Project Electrical Engineering Technical Lead.\r\n\r\nPPE Requirements: steel toes, hardhat, gloves, goggles & safety glasses\r\nWorking Conditions: project construction sites\r\nIf heights, how high?: no more than 4 ft without fall protection\r\nIf driving, what will they be driving?: company provided vehicle on site only\r\nIf lifting, how many pounds?: ? 50 lbs\r\nAny chemicals?: SDS available for all chemicals onsite.\r\n\"Belcan is an equal opportunity employer.
