Cafeteria Supervisor/Head Cook

Position Overview We are seeking a reliable and experienced Cafeteria Head Cook to lead daily kitchen operations at our elementary school. This role is responsible for preparing nutritious meals, maintaining food safety standards, supervising kitchen staff, and creating a positive dining experience for students. Key ResponsibilitiesPlan, prepare, and serve meals in accordance with USDA and school nutrition guidelinesOversee daily kitchen operations, including food prep, cooking, and serviceSupervise and support cafeteria staff; assist with scheduling and trainingEnsure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulationsManage food inventory, ordering, and storageMonitor portion control and minimize food wasteMaintain the cleanliness and organization of kitchen and serving areasAccommodate student dietary needs, allergies, and special meal requirementsCollaborate with school administration on menus, events, and special programs QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredPrior experience in food service or a commercial kitchen requiredPrevious supervisory or lead cook experience preferredKnowledge of food safety practices (ServSafe certification preferred)Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasksStrong organizational and communication skillsAbility to lift [e.g., 30-50 lbs] and stand for extended periods Preferred QualificationsExperience working in a school or institutional food service settingFamiliarity with USDA school meal programs or willing to learnExperience managing inventory and ordering supplies in this series are responsible for food preparation, production and cleanup in a cafeteria setting according to established dietary requirements of quality, quantity, nutrition, appearance, temperature and timeliness.
