Woman's Health Physician Leader

Job Description The role of Women's Health Physician Leader offers comprehensive clinical, academic, operational, and strategic guidance across our organization's inpatient and outpatient women's health services. This position merges the traditional responsibilities of a Department Chair with the broader scope of a Women's Service Line Leader, ensuring high standards in care delivery, quality, patient safety, accessibility, patient experience, education, and growth.Collaborating closely with the Women's Service Line Director, Administrative Dyad Leader, system executives, nursing leadership, and local teams, this leader promotes a coordinated, mission-focused care model that aligns with our organization's values and strategic objectives. Rooted in the ACOG Physician Leadership Competency Framework, this role guides physicians and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), enhances quality and safety, supports operational efficiency, and nurtures a culture of professionalism, teamwork, and ongoing improvement to provide compassionate, high-quality, evidence-based care to women and families throughout Western New York.Key Requirements:Medical Degree, either a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or a Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) from an accredited institution.Must possess a current, unrestricted New York State license or have NYS Licensure in progress, active by the date of hire, along with an active NYS DEA certificate.Board Eligible or Certified in OB/GYN.Certification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) is required.A board-certified OB/GYN physician with a minimum of 10 years of clinical practice experience.Proven progressive leadership experience within a complex healthcare system, medical group, or service line structure.Strong understanding of clinical operations, quality enhancement, and performance management.Preferred advanced leadership education such as an MBA, MMM, or equivalent degree.Experience with academic collaborations, research initiatives, and clinical education is preferred.Responsibilities:Ensures that clinical practices (Chair role) and operational workflows (Service Line role) embody our organization's mission and values.Provides executive oversight for all administrative functions within the OB/GYN Department, ensuring alignment with system objectives.Acts as the representative for women's health services, fostering relationships with community health leaders and referring physicians.Establishes credentialing criteria and ongoing professional practice evaluation (OPPE) thresholds for all OB/GYN providers, maintaining clinical care standards, required policies, and evidence-based guidelines.Leads peer review processes, quality governance, and the development of clinical policies.Drives initiatives to standardize care protocols, monitor key performance indicators, and promote continuous quality improvement to enhance maternal and gynecological outcomes.Identifies clinical needs, service requirements, and specialty-specific expectations across the system.Oversees financial performance, productivity, cost management, and business planning for the Women's Service Line.Recruits, assesses, and develops clinicians, setting expectations for professionalism and academic excellence.Leads market expansion, service growth, and business development initiatives for the Women's Service Line.Provides professional mentorship to physicians, providers, and trainees.Employment Details:Full-time position.Annual salary range: $350,000 - $375,000.Recruitment incentives available, including signing bonuses and relocation assistance.Benefits package includes paid time off (PTO), medical, dental, and vision coverage.Offers a 403(b) plan, a generous continuing medical education (CME) allowance, and occurrence-based malpractice insurance.As a non-profit organization, eligibility for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) is available.Immigration sponsorship is offered for J1 Canadian candidates.Utilizes Epic EMR.Our organization has a rich history, tracing back to Buffalo's first hospital established in 1848.
