Shift Supervisor

JOB SUMMARYIn coordination with Management, the Shift Supervisor provides leadership and guidance to assigned employees through their daily routines and interacts with customers to make sure they have a satisfactory experience. They act as quality control through the supervision of employees and ensuring the Company and Food Service policies and procedures are maintained. A Shift Supervisor must be able to perform all job functions of the staff they supervise and make decisions to delegate duties and responsibilities to ensure efficient operations.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSMay be required to address customer concernsFollows procedures for the proper storage of leftover food and potentially hazardous food itemsReceives and stores food requisitions and suppliesProcesses phone orders and assists customersAssists in catering and special functionsAssists in maintaining production records per departmental proceduresResponsible for the operation and cleanliness of the Unit and equipmentPrepares and pre-portions all food products according to Company specifications and recipesOperation of cash register and cash-upsReplenishes product as needed to include ice machine, ice cream machine, etc.Sweeps and mops work areas as neededReports any equipment and service problems as necessaryReports any deficiencies or problems with any food or suppliesPrepares catering or special event food items as necessaryAssigns, coordinates, and delegates the work of employees to promote the efficiency of operationsEnsures that staff is carrying out assignments as directed and per Company and Food Service guidelines Provides training to new employees and communicates any new procedures to staffPerforms tasks necessary to open and/or close the Unit Must attend food safety training as scheduledPerform other duties as assignedEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE  High School graduate or equivalent; Associate degree preferred; previous foodservice industry and customer service experience required. QUALITIESMust be capable of supervising specific areas of the unit in a fast-paced environmentAbility to lead, both by example and directionHandle sensitive and confidential information appropriatelyWork independently and as part of a teamTake initiative, anticipate, prioritize, and follow tasks through to completionSuccessfully operate within deadlines, use creative problem-solving skills, and evaluate and adjust when necessaryAdhere to Company, Department and State guidelines as directedPredictable and reliable attendanceUse creative problem-solving skillsAdhere to company, department and State guidelines as directedHandle sensitive and confidential information appropriatelyPredictable and reliable attendancePHYSICAL CONDITIONS AND DEMANDSModerate to heavy lifting, up to 50 pounds; constant standing, bending and walking; exposure to temperature extremes, slippery surfaces, and congested work areas; exposure to many different food types.Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of actives, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
