Job Description Labor & Employment Associate AttorneyLocations: Los Angeles (Century City), San FranciscoDirect Counsel is seeking a Labor & Employment Associate to join a nationally recognized, full-service law firm with a highly regarded Labor & Employment practice. This is a partner-track opportunity for an associate looking to work on sophisticated employment litigation matters within a collaborative, cross-office team.Role OverviewThe Labor & Employment Associate will focus on defending employers in complex employment litigation, including wage and hour class and collective actions. The role offers meaningful responsibility, direct client interaction, and the opportunity to work closely with experienced practitioners on high-stakes matters.Key ResponsibilitiesDefend employers in employment litigation matters in state and federal courtsHandle wage and hour class and collective actionsDraft pleadings, motions, discovery, and other litigation-related filingsConduct legal research and prepare written analyses and memorandaCollaborate with attorneys across offices on multi-jurisdictional mattersParticipate in case strategy, discovery, depositions, mediations, and hearingsMaintain strong client relationships through responsive and professional communicationQualificationsJD from an accredited law schoolAdmission to practice in California4–6 years of substantive labor and employment litigation defense experienceSignificant experience with wage and hour class and collective actionsStrong academic credentials and excellent legal writing skillsAbility to work collaboratively across offices and practice groupsProfessional AttributesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication abilitiesSound professional judgment and attention to detailCommitment to teamwork, client service, and professional developmentWork EnvironmentHybrid schedule with an expectation of working from the office three days per weekEmphasis on collaboration, mentorship, and work-life balanceCompensation & BenefitsSalary Range: $280,000 – $315,000 annually, depending on experience, location, and qualificationsComprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement savings, and bonus opportunities
