{"schemaVersion":"jobsearcher.job.v1","id":"e32aa8a31d99b68e963db9e7","url":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/e32aa8a31d99b68e963db9e7","canonicalUrl":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/e32aa8a31d99b68e963db9e7","title":"Solar Performance Engineer","description":"Job Title: Solar Performance EngineerLocation: RemoteEmployment Type: Full-Time, Part-Time, or ContractCompany Overview:Sunrise Technologies is a rapidly growing engineering consultancy focused on solar photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage system performance, design optimization, and quality assurance. Founded in 2018, Sunrise has consulted on over 33 GW of solar projects across the United States and internationally. Sunrise is also the developer of PRISM®, a cloud-based software-as-a-service (SaaS) analytics platform for benchmarking and troubleshooting operational performance of large-scale solar PV facilities. PRISM supports 250+ subscribed projects representing over 5 GW of operating assets. Position Overview:Sunrise is seeking a detail-oriented and diligent Solar Performance Engineer to support energy generation modeling, operational performance analysis, and performance testing for utility-scale and commercial solar PV projects. The Solar Performance Engineer will also collaborate with Sunrise’s software team to develop new analytics features for PRISM. Key Responsibilities:Develop detailed solar PV energy generation models using industry-standard software and proprietary tools.Conduct and review PV system performance tests to verify contractual complianceReview and redline performance guarantee and performance testing contractual languagePrepare clear and concise technical reports and documentation suitable for project investors, lenders, independent engineers, and other stakeholders.Drive continuous improvement in Sunrise processes and methodologies through research, procedure formalization, and automationCreate technical white papers, research presentations, and web content for external audiencesArchitect and support implementation of new performance data analytics features for the PRISM software platform Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, atmospheric science, data science, or a related field2-6 years of engineering experience in the energy or power generation sectorTechnical understanding of PV systems and energy generation principlesProficiency with and deep understanding of solar energy production modeling, including: PVsyst or similar software (e.g. Helioscope, PlantPredict, SAM, etc.); determination of modeling assumptions from equipment manufacturer’s specifications, laboratory studies, empirical models, and engineering judgment; and use of python, including pvlib, for analysis and automationExperience with PV system performance testing and performance analysis, including: ASTM E2848-13 / E2939-13 capacity testing; performance ratio calculations and testing; and performance data analysis and troubleshootingProficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and WordHigh attention to detail, with a creative, methodical, and analytical problem solving abilities.Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, take initiative, and organize tasks independently. Strong written and verbal communication skillsNaturally curious, proactive, and eager to deepen technical expertise. Preferred Qualifications:Graduate degree from an accredited university in engineering, physics, atmospheric science, data science, or a related fieldExperience analyzing large multi-year historical data setsExperience with solar resource assessment and satellite-to-ground correlationsExperience with SCADA systems and PV monitoring platformsFamiliarity with independent engineering (IE) processes.Exposure to utility-scale or commercial PV project development, PV operations and maintenance, or an engineering-procurement-construction (EPC) work environment Work Environment & Benefits:This is a fully remote position within the United States. Employment type (full-time, part-time, or contract) will be determined based on candidate qualifications and both parties’ needs.Occasional travel to conferences and project sites may be required (less than once per month).Annual full-time equivalent salary range $80,000-$120,000, plus a discretionary bonus. Actual compensation will depend on experience, qualifications, and employment type.Full-time employees are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance and a 401(k) retirement plan. Benefits eligibility may vary for part-time or contract roles. Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Statement:Sunrise Technologies is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
