The incumbent must be self‑motivated and be able to perform duties many times with or without minimal supervision and also be able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise. The incumbent will participate in appropriate DOTD structured training programs as required and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required tasks.\n\nQualifications\nPossession of a high school diploma or GED; OR six months of experience in sub‑professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance.\n\nJob Duties\n\nInspect construction work to ensure compliance with departmental policies, standards, specifications, and project plans.\n\nComplete and process construction documentation such as field diaries, reports, and estimates.\n\nEnter, review, and maintain construction project data in departmental systems (e.g., MATT, Site Manager, Content Manager).\n\nApply DOTD engineering policies and procedures while working in the Project Engineer’s office and at construction sites.\n\nServe as the primary construction inspector in assigned areas of specialization or certification.\n\nDetermine material sampling requirements and verify materials, haul quantities, and survey elevations and alignments.\n\nComplete required training and support efficient project operations, including assisting other staff as needed.\n\nPosition‑Specific Details\nAppointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment\n\nCareer Progression: This job may be filled as a Construction Technician 1, 2, 3, or 4.\n\nConstruction Inspector Salary:\n\nConstruction Inspector 1 – Starting salary is $1,198.40 bi‑weekly\n\nConstruction Inspector 2 – Starting salary is $1,372.00 bi‑weekly\n\nConstruction Inspector 3 – Starting salary is $1,570.40 bi‑weekly\n\nConstruction Inspector 4 – Starting salary is $1,797.60 bi‑weekly\n\nCompensation: This position is eligible for premium pay for every hour worked: Construction Technician 1‑4 – $2.00/hour\n\nWork Schedule: Work hours are 7:45 am – 4:15 pm, Monday‑Friday\n\nLouisiana is a State As a Model Employer (SAME) that supports the recruitment, hiring, and retention of individuals with disabilities.\n\nHow To Apply\nNo Civil Service test score is required in order to be considered for this vacancy.
