Join our culture of caring and make a positive and lasting impact on health care for millions.\nRole Description\nBy operating radiologic equipment to make clinical diagnostic X-ray images as directed by physicians and performing routine diagnostic procedures, the Mammography Technologist serves the patient, physician and other support staff.\nPrimary Responsibilities:\nSpecialize in production of screening and diagnostic x-rays for detection of breast tumors\nPosition patient on examining table and adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician. Explain procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation\nMove x-ray equipment into specified position and adjust equipment controls to set exposure factors, such as time and distance, based on knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques and protocols. Select length and intensity for radiation exposure by adjusting equipment on individual patient basis\nPractice radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding skills, and knowledge of applicable exposure factors, to minimize radiation to patient and staff\nFollow prescribed safety standards in operating all required radiological equipment\nExamine radiologic images for properties such as density and contrast, definition, magnification and distortion\nProcess radiographic images and send to PACS. Process routine paperwork. Maintain X-ray storage and filing\nEnsure equipment is in working order. Report equipment malfunctions to supervisor\nMaintain patient confidentiality\nParticipate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations\nMaintain strictest confidentiality\nPerform other duties as assigned\nYou’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.\nRequired Qualifications:\nSatisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training in an AMA approved (2-year) school and meets the requirements for registry by the ARRT\nCurrent Oregon license in Diagnostic Radiography\nCurrent certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)\nCurrent healthcare level CPR/BLS certification\n1+ years of mammography experience\nPreferred Qualification:\nEpic and PACS experience\n\nAt UnitedHealth Group, our mission is to help people live healthier lives and make the health system work better for everyone.
