OverviewThe Interpreter will provide both real-time and written translation services to ensure accessibility, inclusion, and effective communication across program operations. This position plays a key role in supporting a diverse workforce and ensuring compliance with accessibility standards.BackgroundArdent Eagle Solutions (AES) is seeking a qualified Interpreter (Sign Language) to support a Department of Commerce (DOC) program. This role is responsible for facilitating clear and accurate communication between English-speaking personnel and individuals requiring sign language interpretation.ResponsibilitiesProvide real-time interpretation services between English and the specified sign language (e.g., American Sign Language - ASL)Perform bidirectional interpretation (sign language to English and English to sign language) in both formal and informal settingsDeliver interpretation services across multiple formats, including: In-person meetingsVirtual/teleconference environmentsRecorded or written materials, as applicableEnsure accuracy, clarity, and contextual integrity of all interpreted communicationsMaintain strict confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive or government-related informationCollaborate with program staff to understand context, terminology, and communication needsSupport accessibility initiatives in alignment with federal guidelines and program requirementsQualifications Approximately 4 years of experience providing professional interpretation servicesDemonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other specified sign languageExperience performing simultaneous and/or consecutive interpretationStrong understanding of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and professional standardsAbility to adapt communication style to different audiences and environmentsExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsThis position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance or other government suitability determinationEducationBachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in Business, Communications, Linguistics, or a related field Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degreeCertification(s) Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) CertificationNational Interpreter Certification (NIC)State or federal interpreter licensure, if applicableCompensationThe compensation range for this position is $35 - $50 per hour. Compensation will be discussed in greater detail with candidates who advance in the interview process, allowing for a comprehensive evaluation of qualifications and alignment with role requirements.Compensation Disclaimer:The salary range provided for this position represents a general guideline. Final compensation will be determined at the Company's discretion based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, education, internal equity, geographic location, and contract requirements. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range.Location and Work HoursThis position supports a hybrid work schedule and requires regular on-site presence in Washington, D.C.Employees will be expected to report on-site several days per week, with the specific schedule determined in coordination with their Supervisor. As such, candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of Washington, D.C. This position is not eligible for full-time remote work or for candidates located outside of the local commuting area.Standard working hours are based on a 40-hour work week , Monday through Friday. While some flexibility may be available, employees are generally expected to be available during core business hours of 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM ET .When working remotely, employees must have access to a reliable internet connection and a suitable work environment that supports productivity and compliance with company policies.This position supports a hybrid work schedule, which means employees are authorized to alternate between on-site and telework days on a schedule agreed upon and approved by their Supervisor.
