This role includes resolving customer complaints, hiring and training new personnel, enforcing compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and governmental guidelines. The role requires the ability to work extended hours, including nights and weekends as necessary.\n\nSummary of Essential Job Functions\n\nFinancial and Operational\n\nProvide necessary planning, organization, direction, coordination, and control of daily shipping, receiving, maintenance, and other operational activities at assigned locations.\nEstablish measurable quality goals for the facility and track their success or failure.\nIdentify operations goals and perform activities necessary to achieve stated goals and objectives to support business growth and profitability.\nRecruit, train, and manage drivers, tank wash, maintenance, dispatch, clerical, and other support personnel.\nProvide ongoing management support for all assigned personnel, including scheduling, labor hours evaluation, and monitoring operational costs.\nDevelop and implement training programs for new and existing employees.\nEnsure redundancy staffing measures through cross-training.\nEnsure compliance with customer requirements and standards set by upper management.\nDevelop and execute short and long-term operational strategies and plans.\nMaintain accurate records and oversee the scheduling of daily workloads and objectives.\nEnsure proper maintenance and usage of equipment.\nStay informed and maintain compliance on labor, environmental, and safety regulations (DOT, OSHA, EEOC).\nProject a professional image through facility and equipment appearance and customer interactions.\nPromote compliance with the company's Responsible Care performance goals.\nEnforce company policies and minimize non-productive time.\nEnsure timely submission of driver paperwork (receipts, logs, trip reports, maintenance reports, etc.).\nControl terminal expenses within budgeted guidelines to enhance profitability.\nServe as the terminal's liaison with local vendors and manage purchasing materials and supplies.\nProvide dispatch, supervision, and management duties for start-up operations.\n\nKey Customer Management\n\nEnsure all customer requirements are met and work is performed to the standards set by upper management.\nInteract professionally with colleagues, customers, and suppliers.\nSupport the efforts of management in meeting profit and growth objectives established in the strategic business plan.\nWork independently while ensuring clear communication and coordination with other employees and the organization.\n\nPeople Management\n\nCommunicate alignment and goal-setting expectations to employees or teams.\nCreate an environment that promotes effective communication and responsiveness to customer needs.\nLead and/or participate in regular meetings to ensure ongoing communication regarding company, divisional, and regional initiatives.\nCollaborate closely with recruiting/HR to ensure headcount needs are communicated and on track.\nHandle internal staff conflicts effectively and consistently in accordance with company policy and local law.\nChallenge high-performing employees to achieve key objectives and goals.\nRequirements:\n\nRequired Skills and Qualifications\n\nBachelor's Degree in Transportation Management or related field, or 4+ years of equivalent experience in the Transportation/Distribution industry.\nWorking knowledge of truckload transportation operations.\nAbility to supervise and discipline personnel with proper documentation.\nSuperior interpersonal skills and ability to interact tactfully with diverse personalities.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\nUnderstanding of mechanical operations and maintenance of revenue equipment.\nAbility to maintain confidentiality\n\nDisclaimer\n\nThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
