The Operations Manager is expected to be a visible leader who spends the majority of each workday on the manufacturing floor, working alongside supervisors and employees to solve problems, remove obstacles, improve communication, and ensure production goals are met.\r\nThe Operations Manager leads Production Supervisors, Department Leads, EH&S Coordinator and the Maintenance Department while partnering closely with Engineering, Quality, Planning, Human Resources, and to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement.\r\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\r\nManufacturing Operations\r\nLead and oversee daily manufacturing operations across a three-shift production facility.\r\nEnsure production schedules, quality standards, and customer delivery requirements are consistently achieved.\r\nMonitor daily production performance and address operational issues in a timely manner.\r\nIdentify production bottlenecks and implement practical solutions to improve workflow and efficiency.\r\nMonitor key operational metrics including labor utilization, productivity, scrap, downtime, and on-time delivery.\r\nLead daily production meetings and communicate operational priorities with supervisors and department leaders.\r\nEnsure adequate staffing and resources are available to support production requirements across all shifts.\r\nMaintain strong communication between shifts to ensure operational continuity.\r\nLeadership\r\nProvide leadership, coaching, mentoring, and accountability for Production Supervisors, Department leads, and the Maintenance Team.\r\nOversee daily production activities across multiple manufacturing departments.\r\nMonitor production schedules and ensure customer delivery requirements are achieved.\r\nWork closely with production supervisors to address staffing, equipment, and workflow issues.\r\nAssist supervisors in prioritizing work and resolving production challenges.\r\nMonitor labor utilization, efficiency, scrap, and downtime.\r\nHelp identify production bottlenecks and implement practical solutions.\r\nPromote accountability, teamwork, and effective communication throughout the operation.\r\nAssist with employee development and training initiatives.\r\nParticipate in performance improvement discussions with supervisors as needed.\r\nMaintenance Leadership\r\nProvide leadership and oversight of the Maintenance Department.\r\nEnsure preventive and predictive maintenance programs support production requirements.\r\nWork closely with the Maintenance Department to minimize equipment downtime and improve machine reliability.\r\nPrioritize maintenance activities based on production demands.\r\nSupport planning and execution of equipment upgrades, repairs, and capital improvement projects.\r\nPromote proactive maintenance practices that maximize equipment performance and availability.\r\nContinuous Improvement\r\nSupport Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.\r\nRecommend process improvements that improve efficiency, reduce waste, and increase productivity.\r\nParticipate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities.\r\nEncourage employees to identify opportunities for operational improvements.\r\nCross-Functional Support\r\nWork closely with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Planning, and Human Resources to resolve production issues.\r\nAssist in coordinating machine downtime with Maintenance.\r\nSupport Engineering during new product launches and process improvements.\r\nHelp ensure production changes are communicated effectively across departments.\r\nQuality and Safety\r\nEnsure compliance with company quality standards, operating procedures, and customer requirements.\r\nPromote a culture of safety by supporting company safety initiatives and ensuring supervisors consistently enforce safe work practices.\r\nPartner with the Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator to maintain OSHA compliance and continually improve workplace safety.\r\nEnsure housekeeping and workplace organization standards are maintained throughout the facility.\r\nReporting and Operational Performance\r\nProvide regular operational updates to the CEO.\r\nMonitor manufacturing performance metrics and recommend actions to improve results.\r\nPrepare reports related to production performance, labor utilization, equipment performance, and operational efficiency.\r\nRecommend operational improvements that support the company's strategic goals.\r\nSupervisory Responsibilities\r\nThis position provides leadership and direction to Production Supervisors, Department Leads and the Maintenance Department with:\r\nEmployee coaching\r\nPerformance feedback\r\nScheduling coordination\r\nTraining support\r\nProblem resolution\r\nDaily operational direction\r\nEducation\r\nBachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Business, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent manufacturing leadership experience will be considered.\r\nExperience\r\nMinimum of seven (7) years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience\r\nDemonstrated experience leading production in a multi-shift manufacturing environment.\r\nExperience supervising production leaders and maintenance personnel.\r\nExperience in CNC machining, precision manufacturing, aerospace, firearms, defense, or other high-volume precision manufacturing environments strongly preferred.\r\nDemonstrated success improving productivity, efficiency, quality, and employee performance.\r\nExperience implementing Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives preferred.\r\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\r\nStrong leadership and interpersonal skills.\r\nAbility to motivate and develop employees.\r\nExcellent organizational and problem-solving skills.\r\nStrong communication skills.\r\nAbility to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.\r\nKnowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.\r\nStrong understanding of production scheduling, manufacturing processes, equipment utilization, and workflow optimization.\r\nWorking knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office applications.\r\nPhysical Requirements\r\nAbility to regularly walk throughout the manufacturing facility.\r\nAbility to stand and move throughout the facility for extended periods.\r\nAbility to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.\r\nAbility to safely work around manufacturing equipment.\r\nAbility to support operations across all three shifts as business needs require.\r\nWork Environment\r\nThis position operates in a fast-paced precision manufacturing facility that runs three shifts.
