Logistics Specialist
Role:
Brio Water Technology, Inc. is growing and seeking an experienced Import Logistics Specialist. Ideal candidate will arrange and track the logistics of transporting containers into the country while serving as the company’s representative to freight forwarder, ocean freight companies, freight brokers, and third-party logistics providers. Plus, s/he must oversee the allocation of shipments for ocean containers, work with customs brokers to clear customs holds ensuring documentation is prepared and submitted to all relevant government oversight bodies, and communicate the status to internal team members.
Responsibilities:
Oversee all international transportation processes.
Allocate freight cost to applicable POs.
Work with FFW & ocean carriers on global rate negotiations.
Maintain/update internal Harmonized Tariff Code database.
Reconcile import files & accurate data input of import files in ERP system.
Using tracing systems, trace every pending container & monitor the on-water transit.
Gather information to prepare arrival notices with info from the origin & carriers, provide to either brokerage team or outside broker for customs clearance.
Upon clearance, work with FFW and Steamship to clear any originals docs requirements and/or payments.
Keep internal teams in constant communication with important milestones & resolve any issues to insure smooth service.
For import ocean shipments, insure ISF is filed by cutoff date at origin, to avoid penalties.
Track & trace inbound ocean shipments.
Process documents & issue arrival notices timely/accurately.
Work with vendors to obtain accurate delivery dates and keep the ERP system updated.
Other duties as assigned by the Purchasing Supervisor.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred, but not required.
Minimum of two (2) years import/freight experience.
Prior experience in freight forwarding or a related field is preferred.
Thorough knowledge of ocean shipment documentation.
Inbound container logistics and management, including container demurrage detention management experience.
Communication/experience in dealing with drayage companies.
Ability to manage high volume emails, including communication with oversees vendors for commercial invoices/packing list/BOL.
Knowledge in all import procedures.
Experience with tariff codes and ocean freight rate contract.
Ability to multi-task & work independently.
