This position provides the knowledge and experience to efficiently and effectively deliver weapons systems engineering capabilities in support of the acquisition process.\r\nResponsibilities\r\nDuties may include, but are not limited to:\r\nReview armament program portfolios to recommend alternative plans, improve systems engineering processes, manage technical baselines, and support system-level testing to ensure performance meets approved specifications.\r\nPrepare and evaluate technical documents defining system and subsystem characteristics; conduct program reviews assessing engineering plans, design approaches, and test results.\r\nDevelop management reports and deliver technical presentations; establish and execute system validation criteria, procedures, and evaluations.\r\nAnalyze performance results of major weapon systems and provide engineering oversight throughout the acquisition lifecycle.\r\nDeliver engineering, technical, and training support across acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, deployment, fielding, installation, and operational phases; contribute to risk management activities aligned with Air Force Systems Engineering Assessment Model (AF SEAM) processes.\r\nConduct engineering trade studies covering performance, cost, reliability, maintainability, producibility, lifecycle cost, risk, and schedule; provide technical recommendations through studies, audits, evaluations, and IPT participation.\r\nSupport proposal analysis by assessing technical feasibility, compatibility, and cost effectiveness; review and analyze Initial Capabilities Documents, CDDs, CPDs, AoAs, Military Utility Assessments, CONOPS, technology strategies, and configuration audits.\r\nReview and analyze system concepts and approved user requirements incorporated into functional, allocated, and product baselines.\r\nQualifications\r\nMinimum Required Qualifications\r\nCitizenship: Must be a US Citizen\r\nClearance: Current Secret Clearance\r\nEducation And Experience\r\nPrincipal: PhD in related discipline and 25 years of relevant experience; OR Master of Science degree in related discipline AND recognized at national level in a relevant technical field, specialized engineering, or technology area, AND published in the area of expertise and have taught formally in the area (conference/symposium)\r\nExperience supporting DoD acquisition programs or similar engineering environments\r\nExperience supporting system development, integration, and/or sustainment activities\r\nPreferred Qualifications\r\nExperience with armament systems (air-to-air, air-to-surface munitions, missiles, or related systems)\r\nKnowledge of DoD acquisition lifecycle processes and DoDI 5000 series\r\nTechnical Skills\r\nAdditionally, the successful candidate will demonstrate the following:\r\nRisk management and technical problem-solving\r\nConfiguration management and technical documentation\r\nInterpersonal Skills\r\nAbility to operate independently and as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team\r\nStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities\r\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills\r\nAbility to support complex, mission-critical programs\r\nAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment\r\nAdditional Information\r\nLocation: Hill AFB, UT\r\nTravel: Travel may be required per the customer's discretion.\r\nWork Environment: Onsite\r\n9/80 work schedule option may be available.\r\nJ-18808-Ljbffr","company":"Odyssey","rawCompany":"odyssey","city":"Florida","state":"NY","isRemote":false,"isActive":false,"createdAt":"2026-07-25T00:31:43.705Z","occupations":[{"code":"13-1082.00","title":"Project Management Specialists","slug":"project-management-specialists"},{"code":"17-2199.00","title":"Engineers, All Other","slug":"engineers-all-other"},{"code":"17-2011.00","title":"Aerospace Engineers","slug":"aerospace-engineers"}],"industries":[{"code":"928110","title":"National Security","slug":"national-security"},{"code":"921190","title":"Other General Government Support","slug":"other-general-government-support"},{"code":"927110","title":"Space Research and Technology","slug":"space-research-and-technology"}],"jobPosting":{"@context":"https://schema.org","@type":"JobPosting","title":"Principal Programs Engineer","description":"Position Summary\r\nOdyssey has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Acquisition Program Engineer supporting the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at Hill AFB, Utah .
