Our platform unifies semantic observability, dynamic policy enforcement, and distributed monitoring to ensure agent ecosystems remain trustworthy, compliant, and efficient at scale. As part of this mission, the Intelligence Platform is responsible for understanding, scoring, and optimizing agent behavior across the enterprise — including accuracy, security, cost, drift, anomalous behavior, and runtime dynamics.\nRole Overview\nWe are seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to design, build, and own core backend and distributed systems that power Alterion’s platform. This is a hands-on role for a senior systems engineer who enjoys building durable infrastructure, making principled design tradeoffs, and mentoring other engineers.\nYou will work closely with the founders on system architecture and technical direction, while remaining directly accountable for production code. This is not a people-management role; technical ownership and execution are core expectations.\nWhat You’ll Work On\nDesign and implement backend and distributed systems supporting identity, policy enforcement, observability, and agent lifecycle management\nBuild secure, scalable APIs and services that operate reliably in multi-tenant, cloud-native environments\nMake and document system design tradeoffs across consistency, performance, availability, and operational complexity\nOwn backend services end to end, from initial design through production deployment, monitoring, and iteration\nEstablish backend engineering standards for correctness, testing, observability, and long-term maintainability\nLead design reviews and mentor engineers through code reviews and technical guidance\nCollaborate closely with security, AI, and product partners to translate platform requirements into robust system designs\nRequired Qualifications\n5–8 years of experience building and operating backend or distributed systems in production environments\nStrong proficiency in one or more backend languages such as Rust, TypeScript, Python, or Go\nExperience designing and operating cloud-native services on AWS, GCP, or Azure\nSolid understanding of distributed systems fundamentals, including scalability, fault tolerance, data consistency, and observability\nExperience designing APIs and service boundaries for complex or evolving systems\nDemonstrated ownership of critical systems with responsibility for reliability, performance, and long-term health\nExperience mentoring other engineers or serving as a technical lead on backend or platform projects\nComfort operating in ambiguous, early-stage environments and helping shape system direction\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with event-driven architectures, message queues, or streaming systems\nFamiliarity with identity, authentication, authorization, or policy-based systems\nExposure to security-sensitive, compliance-oriented, or multi-tenant platforms\nExperience operating systems at meaningful scale (high request volume, large datasets, or multi-region deployments)\nStrong production observability practices across metrics, logs, and traces\nPrior experience at an early-stage startup or on foundational infrastructure teams\nExposure to AI-adjacent systems or data pipelines (nice to have, not required)\nWhy Alterion\nBuild foundational infrastructure for the next generation of AI systems\nWork directly with the founders on architecture and long-term technical direction\nOwn meaningful, high-impact systems from day one\nJoin a small, senior team that values depth, judgment, and quality\nCompetitive compensation, meaningful equity, and the opportunity to shape a new category","company":"Alterion","rawCompany":"alterion","city":"Millbrae","state":"CA","isRemote":false,"isActive":false,"createdAt":"2026-04-28T10:43:32.792Z","occupations":[{"code":"15-1299.08","title":"Computer Systems Engineers/Architects","slug":"computer-systems-engineers-architects"},{"code":"15-1252.00","title":"Software Developers","slug":"software-developers"},{"code":"15-1211.00","title":"Computer Systems Analysts","slug":"computer-systems-analysts"}],"industries":[{"code":"541512","title":"Computer Systems Design Services","slug":"computer-systems-design-services"},{"code":"541511","title":"Custom Computer Programming Services","slug":"custom-computer-programming-services"},{"code":"513210","title":"Software Publishers","slug":"software-publishers"}],"jobPosting":{"@context":"https://schema.org","@type":"JobPosting","title":"Senior Full Stack Engineer","description":"About Alterion\nAlterion is building the control plane for the agentic enterprise - enabling organizations to safely deploy, monitor, and scale autonomous AI agents with full visibility and governance.
