The Music Business & Legal Affairs team is responsible for advising the various clients across FOX Corporation, including Sports and Entertainment, on a wide array of media, music and entertainment issues.This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week in Century City, CA offices.A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIESNegotiate, draft, review and analyze music licensing agreements to maintain consistent terms of use across multiple business divisions and platformsNegotiate, draft, review, and analyze music agreements for songwriters, performer, producers, mixers, and other talentEstablish procedures and maintain status reports respecting music licenses and engagements for various sports and entertainment programsProvide accurate and timely advice to client groups - including production, marketing, and digital groups- regarding music rights, clearances, union and society issues respecting the use of content on their platformsAssist with soundtrack distribution agreements and related royalty obligationsProvide general advice and support concerning intellectual property rights, music publishing and royalty collection mattersMaintain the integrity of business practices and policiesWHAT YOU WILL NEEDJD or LLM degree from an accredited law schoolMember of the California State Bar, or willingness and qualification to be registered in-house counsel in California2+ years of experience as counsel in a film/tv music business affairs department or 1+ year of full time music law experience at a law firmSolid understanding of the film/tv music business, including the roles of music publishers, labels, and collection societiesStrong background in the area of copyright law (US and foreign) and intellectual property mattersHigh level of professionalism, with an ability to manage high transactional volume in a deadline-intensive environmentCollaborative work style and excellent interpersonal skills, willing to respond quickly and effectively to client concerns, questions, and issuesSelf-reliant and well-organized, maintaining attention to detail and taking responsibility for new projectsCreativity and intellectual curiosity, with an ability to adapt to new challenges and changing circumstancesUnrestricted work authorization to work in the United StatesWe are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, gender identity, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
