Assistant Director of OperationsArtemis House Region IReports to: Director of Artemis House Region IFLSA Status: ExemptSalary Range: $64,000 to $69,000About Shelter HouseShelter House was founded in 1981 as a grassroots response to homelessness in Fairfax County and has grown into a respected nonprofit serving individuals and families experiencing homelessness and domestic violence. Our team works with government agencies, community organizations, and private partners to deliver services rooted in dignity, safety, and long term stability. Each year, Shelter House supports nearly 2,000 individuals, including many children and families. Our culture is guided by our iCARE values of Inclusivity, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, and Empowerment.About the RoleYou will oversee the daily residential operations at Artemis House Region I and directly supervise residential staff (full time, part time, and on call). This role combines administrative leadership and hands on service delivery. You will work closely with the Director of Artemis House Region I and Assistant Director of Programs to ensure safe, trauma informed, and compliant services. This position includes rotating on call duties and occasional evening work.Key ResponsibilitiesStaff Supervision and SchedulingHire, train, develop, schedule, and supervise residential staffProvide coaching and support through regular one on one meetingsPrepare and distribute monthly residential schedulesReview and approve timesheets and leave requestsOperations and Facility ManagementLead residential operations for Region ICoordinate staffing during safety or weather related emergenciesTrack and manage maintenance requests and repairsCoordinate unit inspections and inventory managementEnsure proper vehicle maintenance and registrationSchedule cleaning of all sites and coordinate turnover after move outsCompliance and DocumentationReview documentation to ensure compliance with agency standardsMaintain knowledge of emergency procedures and safety protocolsEnsure facility compliance with health, safety, and agency policiesOversee operations budget, check requests, and financial trackingDirect Service and CollaborationProvide direct services as needed during scheduled shiftsSupport clients and staff with safety plans and needs assessmentsCollaborate with case management and leadership for consistent service deliveryAddress client residential concerns with program leadershipAssist with securing donations and volunteer supportLeadership and ValuesParticipate in and facilitate staff meetings and trainingsServe in a rotating on call capacity to support crisis responseModel and uphold Shelter House's iCARE valuesPerform other duties to support the program and organizationRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in human services or related field, or equivalent experienceMinimum three years experience in human services or direct service rolesStrong organizational, time management, and decision making skillsAbility to handle competing priorities in a fast paced environmentStrong oral communication and public speaking skillsWillingness to work evenings and participate in on call rotationValid driver's licensePreferred QualificationsExperience with homeless families or survivors of domestic or sexual violenceExperience supervising staff in a residential settingProficiency in a second languagePhysical RequirementsAnnual TB test requiredAbility to sit or stand for extended periodsAbility to lift items weighing 1020 pounds
