Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Worker (DSW) to assist a resident in during morning hours on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday until 11 am. This vital role involves providing personalized care to enhance the resident’s quality of life, ensuring safety, and supporting their daily activities. The ideal candidate will bring energy, patience, and a genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities or age-related conditions. DSW MUST have reliable transportation, vehicle information up to date and valid driver's license. Must be 21 year old or over.
Duties
Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to promote independence and comfort
Monitor and observe the resident’s health status, including vital signs and overall well-being, while adhering to HIPAA regulations for privacy and confidentiality
Support medication administration and care plans under supervision, ensuring accuracy and safety
Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal consumption, catering to dietary needs such as Alzheimer’s or dementia care requirements
Use specialized equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident lifts safely during transfers to prevent injury
Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties such as cleaning and sanitizing living areas
Document observations, care provided, and any incidents accurately in compliance with healthcare standards
Experience
Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care settings preferred
Knowledge of patient observation techniques and monitoring vital signs required
Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, dementia or memory care needs highly desirable
Familiarity with care procedures such as assisting with ADLs, medication administration, and creating or following care plans
Certification in CPR and First Aid is necessary; additional certifications like HIPAA training or hospice care experience are a plus
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when needed for resident transfers or mobility support
Strong communication skills for working effectively with residents, families, and healthcare teams
