This individual will lead financial reporting, month-end close, job costing, fleet and fixed asset accounting, internal controls, cash flow management, and acquisition integration efforts.\nThe ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with operational partnership, systems optimization experience, and the leadership skills necessary to develop scalable processes that support continued growth.\nKey Responsibilities:\nFinancial Reporting & Accounting Operations\nLead all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, general ledger, cost accounting, revenue recognition, and financial reporting.\nOversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across multiple entities, ensuring timely reconciliations and accurate financial results.\nPrepare and distribute monthly financial statements and management reporting packages.\nMaintain quality control over financial transactions and reporting processes.\nCoordinate annual budgeting and forecasting activities in partnership with operational and regional leadership teams.\nAnalyze financial performance and provide actionable insights regarding budget-to-actual variances.\nPrepare and maintain weekly 13-week cash flow forecasts.\nPartner with the Collections Manager to improve cash collections and reduce Days Sales Outstanding (DSO).\nJob Costing & Operational Finance\nOversee work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, project accounting, revenue recognition, and contract profitability analysis.\nPartner closely with operational leaders to evaluate project margins, labor productivity, equipment utilization, and material costs.\nDevelop reporting and analytical tools that improve visibility into project performance across multiple service lines.\nEnsure accurate tracking and reporting of fleet assets, capital expenditures, equipment utilization, and depreciation schedules.\nMergers, Acquisitions & Systems Integration\nLead the financial integration of acquired companies, ensuring consistency in accounting policies, procedures, and reporting standards.\nDrive standardization across entities while supporting operational flexibility where needed.\nPartner with leadership to optimize GoldFinch (Salesforce-based ERP) and related financial systems.\nImprove processes for multi-entity consolidations, intercompany accounting, project costing, and financial reporting.\nCompliance, Controls & Audit Management\nEnsure compliance with all federal, state, and local reporting requirements.\nManage annual financial statement audits and serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors.\nCoordinate lender reporting and financial covenant compliance.\nDesign, implement, and continuously improve internal controls, accounting policies, approval workflows, and close procedures.\nMaintain a strong control environment that supports both growth and operational efficiency.\nLeadership & Team Development\nLead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team.\nFoster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.\nPartner with executive and operational leadership to provide financial guidance and strategic decision support.\nTranslate complex financial information into actionable business insights for stakeholders across the organization.\nQualifications\nRequired Experience\n8–12+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.\nMinimum of 3 years in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or senior financial leadership role.\nStrong experience managing accounting operations within a project-based environment.\nProven success leading month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes.\nMulti-entity accounting and consolidation experience.\nExperience managing external audits and lender reporting requirements.\nPreferred Industry Experience\nDirect experience within one or more of the following industries is strongly preferred:\nEnvironmental Services\nDrilling\nConstruction\nGeotechnical Services\nHeavy Civil Construction\nSpecialty Contracting\nTechnical Expertise\nDeep understanding of project accounting, job costing, WIP reporting, and revenue recognition.\nExperience integrating accounting systems and teams following mergers and acquisitions.\nAdvanced Excel skills, including financial modeling and reporting.\nExperience with construction or project-based ERP systems.\nFamiliarity with Salesforce-based systems is a plus.\nEducation & Certifications\nBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.\nActive CPA designation strongly preferred.\nCCIFP (Certified Construction Industry
