The Engineering Manager will partner closely with Data Product Managers, Architects, Business Stakeholders, and Corporate Data Platform teams to deliver business value while advancing MAPFRE's Data maturity and transformation strategy.\n\nThe successful candidate will drive engineering excellence, operational reliability, talent development, and innovation while supporting strategic initiatives.\n\nResponsibilities:\n\nEngineering Leadership\n\nLead and mentor a team of Data Engineers and Platform Engineers.\nEstablish a culture of engineering excellence, ownership, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.\nDevelop team capabilities through coaching, technical mentorship, career development, and succession planning.\nFoster a high-performance, psychologically safe, and inclusive engineering culture.\n\nDelivery & Execution\n\nOwn the successful delivery of enterprise data solutions and data products.\nManage engineering capacity, sprint commitments, dependencies, risks, and delivery timelines.\nPartner with Data Product Managers to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.\nEnsure predictable and high-quality delivery.\nDrive reduction of technical debt while balancing business priorities.\n\nData Platform & Architecture\n\nLead engineering efforts across the MAPFRE data ecosystem including:\nData Platform\nSnowflake\nAWS Services\nStreaming and CDC Pipelines\nData Warehousing & Lakehouse Architectures\nData Observability\nCollaborate with Architecture Team, Application teams and the Data Architecture teams to ensure alignment with enterprise standards.\nPromote reusable frameworks, automation, and engineering best practices.\nRetire legacy platform\n\nOperational Excellence\n\nAdvance DataOps and FinOps maturity across engineering teams.\nImplement CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, automated testing, monitoring, observability, and operational controls.\nImprove reliability, scalability, recoverability, and performance of data products and pipelines.\nDefine and manage engineering KPIs and service-level objectives.\nKey focus areas include:\nAutomated deployments\nData observability\nPipeline monitoring\nCost optimization (FinOps)\nSelf-healing data pipelines\nOperational dashboards\n\nData Quality & Governance\n\nPartner with Data Governance, Data Product Management, and Business stakeholders to improve trust in enterprise data.\nEnsure engineering solutions support:\nData lineage\nData quality controls\nRegulatory compliance\nMetadata management\nData product registration and discoverability\nSupport Mapfre's \"Governance by Design\" principles.\n\nStakeholder Management\n\nBuild strong relationships with business partners, product teams, analytics teams, and corporate platform teams.\nCommunicate engineering priorities, progress, risks, and accomplishments to technical and executive audiences.\nServe as a trusted advisor on technology strategy and solution delivery.\nBalance strategic objectives with operational commitments.\n\nQualifications:\n\nBachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
