This role manages the month-end close process, ensures accurate financial reporting, and maintains compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations. The Interim Controller supervises accounting staff, coordinates audits, and implements process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy. This position serves as a key resource for financial analysis, budgeting, and internal controls, supporting clients through periods of transition or increased workload.\nThis role will work a sporadic and fluctuating schedule.\n\nJob Duties:\n\nOversees daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities\nManages month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements\nPrepares and reviews financial reports, reconciliations, and supporting schedules\nEnsures compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements\nCoordinates and supports external audits and tax filings\nDevelops, implements, and monitors internal controls and accounting policies\nAssists with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis for client management\nIdentifies and implements process improvements to enhance operational efficiency\nCommunicates financial information and recommendations to client leadership\nOther duties as required\n\nSupervisory Responsibilities:\n\nN/A\n\nQualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:\n\nEducation\n\nBachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, required\nMaster’s degree in Accounting or Finance, preferred\n\nExperience\n\nFive (5) or more years of progressive accounting experience, required\nTwo (2) or more years in a supervisory or management role, required\nExperience in public accounting or professional services, preferred\nExperience with interim or contract controller assignments, preferred\n\nLicense(s)/Certification(s)\n\nCPA, preferred\n\nSoftware\n\nProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, required\nExperience with major accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, SAP), preferred\n\nLanguage\n\nN/A\n\nOther Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities\n\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills\nAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines\nHigh attention to detail and accuracy\nStrong leadership and team management abilities\nAbility to adapt quickly to changing client needs and environments\nDemonstrates professionalism and integrity in all client interactions\n\nIndividual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.\n\nNational Range: $75/hr - $105/hr\nMaryland Range: $75/hr - $105/hr\nNYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $75/hr - $105/hr\nAt BDO, how we show up matters.
