The workload will vary based on current jobs — some weeks may involve more CAM programming, while others may involve more machine setup, prove-out, troubleshooting, and machining.\n\nWe offer a *relaxed, team-oriented shop environment* and are looking for someone who enjoys challenging and varied machining work.\n\n*Responsibilities*\n\n* Create and modify CNC programs from customer-supplied STEP models and engineering drawings\n* Program primarily CNC milling operations\n* Program *3-axis, 3+2, and 4th-axis* machining operations\n* Develop new programs from scratch as well as modify existing programs for repeat jobs\n* Set up and operate CNC mills\n* Take programs from CAM through machine setup and prove-out\n* Select appropriate tooling, workholding, speeds, feeds, and machining strategies\n* Read and interpret engineering drawings and *GD&T*\n* Machine close-tolerance prototype and low-volume components\n* Make program and machine adjustments as necessary\n* Troubleshoot programming, tooling, setup, and dimensional issues\n* Perform first-piece and in-process inspection using precision measuring equipment\n* Assist other machinists with programs, setups, and troubleshooting when needed\n* Work with engineering and quality personnel to successfully complete jobs\n\n*Required Qualifications*\n\n* *3+ years of CNC programming and/or advanced CNC machining experience*\n* Strong CNC milling background\n* CNC machine setup and prove-out experience\n* Experience programming CNC equipment using CAM software\n* Ability to work from 3D models and engineering drawings\n* Strong understanding of *GD&T*\n* Experience with close-tolerance precision machining\n* Strong understanding of tooling, workholding, offsets, feeds and speeds, and machining fundamentals\n* Ability to troubleshoot machining and programming issues\n* Ability to work independently and maintain a high level of quality\n\n*Preferred Experience*\n\n* *ESPRIT and/or Autodesk Fusion* experience\n* Haas CNC mill experience\n* *3+2 and 4th-axis programming experience*\n* Experience programming new prototype components from scratch\n* Aerospace or defense machining experience\n* Experience taking jobs from model/print through programming, setup, prove-out, and finished part\n* CNC lathe experience, particularly Mori Seiki, is a plus but *not required*\n* Sinker EDM experience is a plus but not required\n\n*About the Position*\n\nThe ideal candidate is a well-rounded CNC programmer/machinist who is comfortable both *at a programming workstation and on the shop floor*.\n\nWe are primarily looking for a strong milling background.
