Position Summary
The Part-Time Accounts Payable Clerk / Bookkeeper supports the Finance Department by performing routine accounting and administrative functions with a strong focus on accuracy, organization, and internal controls.
This is an entry-level opportunity ideal for someone looking to gain hands-on nonprofit accounting experience in a mission-driven organization. Responsibilities may expand over time based on performance, organizational needs, and demonstrated capacity.
Primary Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
Enter and code vendor invoices accurately and timely in Bill.com
Review invoices for completeness, proper approvals, and supporting documentation
Route invoices for approval and follow up as needed
Assist with payment processing in accordance with internal controls
Adhere to established segregation of duties (does not approve invoices or payments)
Credit Card Transactions
Review and code organizational credit card transactions
Match transactions to receipts and supporting documentation
Follow up with staff regarding missing or unclear receipts
Ensure expenses are coded to the correct accounts, programs, and departments
Recordkeeping & Finance Support
Maintain organized digital files for invoices, receipts, and approvals
Assist with basic month-end close activities related to expenses
Provide support to the Controller during audits and reporting periods
Future Responsibilities (As the Role Grows)
Preparing and recording bank deposits
Entering cash receipts and other routine journal entries
Assisting with credit card reconciliations
Supporting additional accounting and finance projects as needed
Qualifications
Required
High school diploma or equivalent (coursework in accounting or finance preferred)
1–2+ years of bookkeeping, accounts payable, or related experience
Experience using QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Basic proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets
Ability to follow established processes and meet deadlines
Preferred
Experience with Bill.com or similar accounts payable platforms
Experience or interest in nonprofit or mission-driven work
Skills & Competencies
Highly organized and detail-oriented
Reliable with strong follow-through
Comfortable handling confidential financial information
Clear and professional communication skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating with a small team

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
