In this role, you will manage mission-critical production systems that support enterprise-scale, multi-region workloads, ensuring databases are resilient, performant, and secure.\nThis role is ideal for a hands-on DBA who thrives in complex, high-availability environments, enjoys deep technical problem-solving, and is comfortable leading database operations for globally distributed systems. You'll work closely with Data Engineering, DevOps, and application teams to support both day-to-day operations and large-scale database initiatives.\nYou will:\nDatabase Operations & Administration\nAdminister, operate, and optimize production databases including Couchbase, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, DocumentDB, Cosmos DB, and Snowflake.\nManage Couchbase clusters, including XDCR replication configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.\nPerform database installations, upgrades, patching, and configuration management across cloud and on-prem environments.\nMonitor database compliance requirements.\nBackup, Disaster Recovery & Resilience\nDesign and maintain comprehensive backup strategies with appropriate retention policies.\nImplement and validate restore procedures to meet defined RTO/RPO objectives.\nDevelop and maintain point-in-time recovery (PITR) capabilities.\nExecute disaster recovery drills and document outcomes and improvements.\nManage AWS Backup, native database backups, and cross-region replication strategies.\nIncident Response & Production Support\nParticipate in a 24/7 on-call rotation supporting mission-critical database systems.\nLead database-related incident response efforts, including outage resolution and performance degradation.\nPerform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventative actions.\nTroubleshoot complex production issues such as replication lag, memory pressure, connection limits, and deadlocks.\nCoordinate closely with application and infrastructure teams during critical incidents.\nMonitoring, Observability & Automation\nImplement and maintain monitoring and alerting using tools such as Datadog, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, and database-native solutions.\nCreate and regulatory requirements.\nParticipate in security audits, vulnerability assessments, and remediation efforts.\nCollaboration & Mentorship\nPartner closely with Data Engineering, DevOps, and application teams.\nProvide database expertise and guidance across engineering teams.\nCommunicate database status, incidents, and maintenance activities to stakeholders.\nMentor junior DBAs and engineers on database best practices.\nParticipate in architecture reviews and technical design discussions.\nWhat You'll Need to Be Successful\n5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator managing production systems at scale.\nStrong hands-on experience with AWS database services including RDS/PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, DocumentDB, Aurora, and AWS Backup.\nWorking experience administering Couchbase, including cluster management, XDCR replication, and N1QL optimization.\nExperience with Azure database services, including Cosmos DB and Azure Database for PostgreSQL.\nProven experience supporting multi-region, globally distributed database systems.\nDeep understanding of database internals, indexing strategies, and query optimization.\nStrong SQL skills and familiarity with database-specific query languages (e.g., N1QL).\nExperience designing and testing backup, restore, PITR, and disaster recovery strategies.\nHands-on experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog, CloudWatch, and Azure Monitor.\nProficiency with scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.\nExperience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.\nStrong understanding of database security, encryption, IAM, and compliance requirements.\nExcellent troubleshooting skills and ability to operate effectively during high-severity
